Here is your chance to purchase a 45 year old vechicle with little work to be done. It drives and runs well with an aftermarket Weber 32/36 dual carb on the original 1600cc air cooled engine, but does need some adjustment. This beetle has some rust on the outside right below the air vents on the side of ther car, but the rest of the car and floor boards are really clean. I have put some parts and work into the car, but didn"t want to go overboard as there maybe a collector out there who wants to keep it stock.
A few of the issues are as follows: - Paint is the original and very faded so a new paint job would be a good thing to make it look up to date. - Rear defrost does not work as some of the wires are disconnected but all are still there. I recieved it this way - Rear light housing do not match, but unless you are fully restoring it, isn"t much of a deal - Fuel guage only reads half full until half then become accurate closer to empty - Original AM radio tunning knob does not turn. - There are a few other minor issues but it is again 45 years old.
New parts installed within the last year: - New tires all around with good tread still left - Both front headlights have been converted to halogen headlights for way brighter vision - Brake lines and brakes where replaced 2 years ago - New battery with 2 year Warranty still in place until March 2020 - New spark plugs - New spark plug ignition harness - New coil - New performance exhaust, but doesn"t look much different than original as it still goes out of the original exhaust cut outs in the frame.
Additional parts included: - Spark plug set - Assortment of fuses - Used original VW coil - EMPI quite exhaust with side exhaust and muffler - 2 headlights with removable bulbs instead of the sealed bulbs like the original
This is a solid little car and would love to keep it, but because I"ll be moving in the summer it"s time to get rid of some of my toys. I paid about $250 a year for insurance and that was covered by a Hagerty insurance which means if I ever crashed the car I would get face value which is about $8,000. If you need a video of it running let me know and I"ll email it. I have have it covered under a tarp and keep it running and start it up every other week or so. If you have any other questions please let me know. The pictures are of the car with no editing. LOCAL PICKUP is prefered, but would help with shipping if buyer pays I don"t drive it much and when I do its rarely more than 25 miles at a time. I will accept PayPal or Cash only! Clean VA Title in hand. On Jul-28-18 at 13:12:53 PDT, seller added the following information: 7/28/18 update: I just got back from being on the road for 2 months and went to start it up, but it never started. It turned over a few time and actually ran for about 30 secs but then died. I recharged the battery back up, but as of right now I"mm going to say it doesn"t currently run. If you are a VW aircooled fixer this will be an easy fix. If you think you can get it started and drive it home, by all means be my guest. Just trying to be honest of what state it is currently sitting in. On Jul-29-18 at 15:08:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I have now gotten this beetle to idle on is own all be it very rough and definitely running very rich, but still unable to actually put it in gear to move forward without stalling it out. I am now guessing its a carburetor issue, but that is my only guess and will not be able to tinker on it until after bidding has closed. If you have further questions let me know.
