1973 Land Cruiser (FJ40) 4x4 Hardtop Original Orange with a White top Specifications include; Original 3.9L inline 6 cyl (fuel injection added) Original 3-speed manual Transmission & transfer case Original front and rear differentials (power steering added). The Land Cruiser FJ40 may just be the definitive 20th century 4×4. With an international pedigree like a Land Rover, the rugged simplicity of a Jeep and swagger like an old Bronco, the FJ offers a greatest hits album of classic trucks. The FJ40 was in production from 1960 to 1984, and was Toyota ’s best-selling model in the United States between 1961 and 1965. By 1973, 300,000 had been produced in either hardtop, soft top, station wagon or pickup form. The F refers to the Type F engine, and the J stands for Jeep — not the brand Jeep but the more generic WWII-era use of that term as a “general purpose vehicle.” The 40 refers to the displacement of the inline-six engine. The FJ40 solidified Toyota ’s reputation for building strong, reliable vehicles. It added a low range sub gear that improved acceleration and performance on rough roads, Folding jump seats in the rear were another key addition to the FJ40 as they allowed for more cargo or passengers to be carried. The car on view carries its correct 3.9 liter 6-cylinder engine with factory-correct 3-speed manual transmission and 4-wheel drive system. The vehicle also has a fully functioning factory rear heater for the cold days in the trees. This Land Cruiser has been thoughtfully updated with items like fuel injection, power steering, and 4-wheel disc brakes to increase stopping power over the original drum brakes that were sketchy at best especially when they got wet! The fuel injection has been added for ease in all weather / temperature starting and running in all climates and altitudes. An aluminum intake manifold and coated header were also upgrades to increase low end torque and performance across the whole rpm range. It has new factory exhaust including a resonator. A soft ride kit was added to accommodate the oversize 35-12.50-17” BF Goodrich tires mounted on alloy wheels with a matching spare. Power steering was added for driving comfort and easier off road maneuverability. The 8K Warn winch has never been needed but is ready for use just in case. Overall you will be hard pressed to find a more solid and honest FJ that has not been hacked up for a V8 or modified to the extent that it is no longer a vehicle that can be used for the tasks that Toyota built and intended it for. Everything works on this FJ from the lights, horn, heaters, wipers, all the way to the 4-wheel drive system. The dash gauges all function as new and are nice and bright in appearance. Small driving lights have been added for a little extra visibility on dark mountain roads. This model also has fold up rear seats, seat belts, and front / rear heat. Once again this is an extremely nice, clean, well kept Land Cruiser that is not a show piece but an extremely well kept original that can be driven anywhere at any time in any conditions!
