Vehicle description
Up for sale a 1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport Fastback in amazing condition with highly documented history. This car was acquired on December 28, 1972 in Morgantown, North Carolina, where it spent its whole life with the same family. The last registration card from 2018 (prior to my acquisition) was still on the original owner"s name. As pictures show, I have extensive documentation, including NC vehicle inspection receipts from 1972 through 1990. The first inspection was done by the dealer, Giles Motors Inc, on December 21, 21972, with 3 miles on the clock. The car had ~50,000 miles by May 1979, ~61,000 by July 1985, ~93,000 by 1988 and 99,865 on September 1990. It has almost 117,000 now.
I purchased this Gran Torino in the beginning of 2018 and have kept it garaged since. I am selling because other commitments have kept me from driving (I have driven it less than 1000 miles over the past year) and unfortunately will not have time in the near future.

Exterior: The car sports a nice Ivy Glow Green exterior with Medium Green interior. It is the now-classic color combination from Clint Eastwood"s 1972 Gran Torino on the movie Torino. The person I bought the car from told me that some of the paint was still original, as there are a few spots of faded paint on the hood and front quarters, but I have not been able to confirm it or deny it. In my opinion, the car looks fantastic and shines in the sun. I always get compliments when I drive it.
Engine: The car drives well and shifts well. Starts up very easily. Engine is a 351 Cleveland, 2-barrel. I can provide videos of the engine running by email. It runs incredibly well and sounds great. It has an FMX automatic transmission with 3 gears. I just installed a new battery.
Maintenance: After buying it, I did all the maintenance that I would do on a car to be able to drive it safely. I had a professional shop in Chicago replace every part of the suspension - it drives like a new car. (service receipt on one of the pictures) It has all new bushings, new tie rods, new shocks, new idler arm, new ball joints, new pitman arm.
I also had the shop change all engine belts, engine and transmission oils and do a thorough check on the car. The shop also installed new fuel pump, water temperature sensor and fuel filters, all at my request.
I sat for 2.5 hours on heavy Chicago traffic this summer, when temperatures were above 100F outside. The car never failed and the temperature never went up.
I spent almost $4,000 on it and have all receipts.
Interior: Interior in great condition, carpet is seemingly new as it was protected by a cover that preserved it. I removed it after buying the car. One minor issue on the interior is the middle of the driver"s seat has unsowed. Easy fix for any upholstery shop, I just never got around to actually doing it. Comes with original radio as well.
Other: There were only 2 "to dos" on my list, which I list below: 1) Repair driver"s seat sewing 2) Small dent on front quarter, driver"s side. I rarely noticed it until my neighbor accidentally broke the small reflective light. Simple job to any shop as well.
Finally, consider pictures as part of the description. As always, all sales are final, and car is sold as-is, with no returns. A $1,500 deposit via PayPal is required within 48 hours. Please reach out with any and all questions - I am happy to give detailed information, as well as send additional pictures if needed.
Thank you.
