Vehicle description
For sale is a 1973 Ford F-350 Super Camper Special in Ranger XLT trim. VIN is F35HRS06982. Color is blue on blue. Odometer says around 2500 but I can’t imagine that it hasn’t rolled. Under the hood is a big block Ford 460 with a C6 auto. Rear axle is a DAna 70 with 3.73 gearing. The interior is in great condition other than a drooping headliner. Body is extremely straight and has a complete set of Ranger XLT trim pieces. Frame is in impeccable condition.
Reason for sale: this truck was originally intended to useas a donor/parts car, but the condition is too good I just can’t bring myself to cut her up; I think she’s too close to restorable for that. Does not run and will need to be towed. I have never attempted to start it because I bought it as a parts car. The engine does turn over with a breaker bar.
These are super special trucks, with only a few thousand being made from 73-77. They came at the peak of the bed-camping craze and moved the rear axle back to facilitate more stability while towing a camper in the bed of the pickup. I have a ’75 that I drive around and I continuously getcomments, questions, kids wanting to take a look when I park on a main drag. Ithink this truck has real potential to get back on the road so I just can’t use her for metal so I’ve decided to let someone else be her next steward.
Of note: Comes with factory super wide staggered wheel set: 9.5x16.5 in the front and 12x16.5 in the rear. These are apparently hard to find. Complete set of hubcaps as well. Comes with both stock, body color gas caps for the twin gas tanks. These are also apparently hard to find due to people replacing them with locking caps in the 70’s gas crisis There is rust in the rear of the truck bed Frame is in fantastic condition, see photos.Being a west coast car has left only a little surface rust Does not come with tire cover side panel Comes with a set of keys
The truck, because it was a parts car, does not come with a title. Bill of sale only
