Vehicle description
I must relist this as the original buyer didn"t have funds for large ticket items. Italian for "Panther", the Pantera was the automaker"s most popular model, with over 7,000 manufactured over its 20-year production. The De Tomaso Pantera is a mid-engine sports car produced by the De Tomaso car company of Italy from 1971 to 1992. The car was designed by the Italian design firm Ghia by American-born designer Tom Tjaarda. The Pantera is a steel unibody design. Alejandro De Tomaso was born and raised in Argentina. He emigrated in his 20s to Italy to avoid political persecution from Juan Domingo Perón, president of Argentina at that time. ] The car debuted in Modena in March 1970 and was presented at the 1970 New York Motor a few weeks later. Approximately a year later the first production Pantera were sold The first Panteras were powered by a Ford 351cu in (5.8 L) V8 engine producing a 330hp. The high torque provided by the Ford engine reduced the need for excessive gear changing at low speed This car has a powerful 351 Cleveland and a 5spd ZF transaxle with 44,353 original road miles. Modifications have been done making this car an enjoyable, reliable driver. Cooling efficiency has been updated with a custom aluminum radiator accompanied with hi flow cooling fan along with a high flow water pump. The ignition has been upgraded along with the Distributor and Coil. Exhaust manifolds/headers are original. High Flow mufflers have been added. The vehicle runs nice and cool. The engine runs very well without any smoke. Engine was rebuilt when the car was restored 15 year ago. The clutch engages smoothly on takeoff and the ZF transmission shifts with ease. The vehicle sits on custom made Boyd rims. This Panera’s, rear engine 351 Cleveland, is not ignored. As you rev the motors it becomes music to your ears. The cars acceleration and braking are unparalleled . This is the car to rival Ferraris. You can fire it up and take long exhilarating drives with confidence. The tires have plenty of tread, but I recommend replacing for those long drives as they are a couple of years old. Included are the original factory Campagnolo wheels.
