Vehicle description
1973 Citroen SM
First time offered in many years" The original V6 Maserati engine runs great and has a 5 spd transmission from the factory. I was told by the previous owner the trans shifted fine.
The body is amazingly straight, all the body lines are excellent and I have found no rust or signs of prior rust repairs, see photos of the floors inside with the carpet removed and from under the car as well as the bottom of the doors. ( please note the interior photo of the drivers floor has hydraulic fluid residue from the brake valve being blead at a time in the past, NO rust issues)
The Chrome and all the glass is great.
The dash has no cracks, the headliner is good as are the door panels,
It had been stored and started sparingly over the last 15 to 20 years.
After my purchase a couple of years ago I drained the fuel, cleaned the lines and put an electric pump on it, filled the cylinders with marvel mystery oil then let it set for a couple of days, I then turned it over, by hand at first, then with the starter. I checked for spark, plug gap etc and lubricated all the linkage and it started easily. After about 20 minutes and obtaining normal temperature the front carb started leaking from a stuck float. After the Marvel Mystery Oil smoked off and on all the susequent starts it has no noise, or smoke, (until the float stuck obviously). It ran great. Over the following couple of months I started it a couple of more times but then I moved my business and took it home to sit in my garage during the move.
It is very complete and the only thing I can find missing is one hub cap., Yes, it has the spare tire, the factory jack and air cleaner that was not shown.in the photos. I have had no time to really check everything out on it but was told it had an electrical problem, probably an ignition switch. (I have found no burnt wires)
It appears to be 99% rust free, dent free and shows no signs of prior body or rust repairs in the past. I loved the color combination and was intrigued by the way the front fenders came off to make working on it easier. I was planning on replacing and/or rebuilding all the spheres and important hydraulic components then a complete cosmetic refreshing of the entire car.
I am located near the Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas 77032
