Thank for you looking at our 1973 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. This car has 45,900 actual miles. This car originally belonged to Frankie Yankovic, The Polka King. He bought this car brand new, and had such hits as "Just Because", "Too Fat Polka", "In Heaven There is No Beer", and "Who Stole the Keeshka". He is the Polka King of America and won an Oscar in the late 80s. Let me tell you a story that I know about this automobile: I actually lived in the 60s and 70s in South Euclid, which is the same city that Frankie Yankovic lived in when I was a kid. I knew the family a little bit and I remember when he bought this car new in the Fall of 1972, I remember seeing it in the driveway and I"d go by and look at it and couldn"t believe how nice this car was. Frankie Yankovic kept the car and drove it everyday for about 12 years. When he moved to Vegas around 1980, he took the car with him. I do have registration with Yankovic"s name on it and I have a signed muffler receipt where he had the car fixed with his signature in the early 80s. If you want to call the Cleveland title beaurea you will see that he purchased this car new in 1972 living on Belvoir Boulevard. About 3 years ago, I opened up Craigslist and the guy that owed the car at the time had it listed for sale. It was with the Yankovic family up until about 10 years ago so I went out to Painesville, OH and purchased the car. I took the car right to the mechanic, because I wanted it to run perfectly before I restored it. I spent about $3,000 fixing this car mechanically, including brake work, a complete tune up, valve covers, battery, new power top motor for the convertible top, hoses and belts. I had two new floor pans put in it because it"s a convertible and they had a little rust on them. I also had brand new carpeting put in the car, exactly the same color as the original color carpeting. If you look underneath the vehicle, the frame and floors are perfect. This is a great car to complete the restoration of. It will need the interior replaced or died, (I"m talking about the seats). I bought a passenger side door panel for the inside of the car that"s still in the box. I was going to put that on and dye the rest of the white interior so it would look good. As far as the convertible top goes, it"s an original top and you can buy a brand new replacement top for about $550 plus insulation. The body on this car is solid, as you can see in the pictures, except for both door tops there is a vinyl he put on (because he had this car custom built on the outside to match an album that he had coming out in 1972), so it"ll need both doors patched on the top, not the bottom, and the whole car touched up and painted. I also have a new hood ornament and both of the front bumper spacers in the front that are missing. I was ready to complete this project, and that"s why I made sure I had all the parts that I would need to move forward, but I also have 4 other projects I"m working on, and this car does not deserve to be sitting in my garage. It deserves to be on the road, burning gas, maybe with Frankie Yankovic"s name on the sides of the car, then everyone would know it was Frankie"s car. The blue and the white are very pretty colors. You can get in this car and drive it home, but I"m not too sure how good the tires are. That was one part of the car that I figured I would probably stick on after the car was all done. It has a nice solid trunk inside, and I also had two brand new sill plates that go on the carpet on both sides of the doors after it"s painted. I have at least $8,000 in this car right now, and I"m just selling it to get my money back, because it"s going to be a while before I can finish this project. I was told by a couple people in Cleveland that the value of this car fixed up nicely, (not perfect), would be about $25,000 because it"s Frank"s car. There were no other known cars in existence that Frank has owned. Any Cadillac Eldorado convertible is a classic, but especially this one, being personally owned and driven by The Polka King for at least 12 years and being in the family until just recently. The lucky winner of this auction would definitely have a special car to own, drive and bring to car shows. When we bought the car, there was a small block of wood on the gas pedal, because Frank was short and couldn"t reach it. We did remove it, because the average-sized person today doesn"t need any help reaching the break or gas pedal on this car. If you"re the person that wants to give this car a good home and restore it to where it really looks good, this is definitely a one-of-a-kind automobile.
