Vehicle description

As mentioned in my last ad (for the 1970 Westy, now sold!) I am also letting go of this 1972 Dead Head relic!
This bus is not restored, remains very original, and is a true german Westfalia. Tons of factory stickers still remain where they were put back in 1972. The bus has plenty of "battle scars" anyone might expect after 30 years of road trips, and likely acid trips, bouncing from concerts to festivals to campgrounds. That said, unlike so many, this bus is not rusted out! Underneath and the areas that are so often rotten on these are all very solid and it needs no immediate attention in that regard. Furthermore, the bus runs like a top. For those unaware, the 1972 model year was when they introduced the larger, and much more powerful "pancake" motor. I"ve owned several busses and by far the one that got the most "practical" use was also a 1972. A bus my family still rags on me for selling. That is why I bought this bus after a bunch of searching and trips to look at other ones on the market, I chose this for how solid it was, and how strong the mechanicals are. As mentioned, she needs a few things no doubt to be the bus she should be, but nothing that anyone can"t do themselves and for short money. The top tent is tattered, plenty of blemishes, few minor missing things like front kick panels, etc, but again, this is all very easily sourced here on or on one of many sites. Starts right up, idles perfectly, revs up as it should, sounds good, shifts in all gears no popping out, idles back down nicely. Brakes are very strong and balanced. Steering is tight and tracks on the line as it should. It"s a great bus going down the road. Whoever buys this bus could find the pride in vastly improving it cosmetically with some elbow grease inside of a weekend, and have a bus worth more than they have invested in it pretty easily!
WHY ARE YOU SELLING IT?!?! You ask. .? Another opportunity un-car related has come up and I"m selling off the toys. Sadly, in this case, a little prematurely. . but on a great note, here"s an opportunity for the next person to get into a Westfalia for an affordable price, that isn"t going to be a money pit and by anyone estimation, should only increase in value as the days go by. As these things go, some key points to make and understand before bidding. Given the age of the bus and the venue in which it’s being listed, I am offering this sale AS-IS, no warranties outside of my word on the items mentioned above, and no refunds of any kind once the deal is done. This said PLEASE ask any and all questions, come and see/inspect/drive the bus if you’re able, and get all of your own permissions/financing/space cleared in your garage BEFORE you bid. As mentioned above, I am selling the car to fund another purchase, to which these proceeds are required for so I would like not to list more than once which is reflective in my price. BUY IT NOW can be agreed on at $12,500 or upon discussion, so please reach out if this is of interest. The bus is also going to be listed elsewhere and for sale locally, first to pay is the new owner. Otherwise, bid what you can afford to and are committed to paying, and we’ll see from there! PayPal for deposit is OK, the rest will have to be wire, cash, or certified bank check (PP Fees too high for full payment unless you want to cover them). Nothing gets handed over till funds clear. Pick up here at my house in Barre MA is expected within 5 business days of the end of the auction. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I will, of course, do anything I can on my end to help get that sorted. I’ve both shipped a bus home and away so I’m happy to lend my experience onto whoever might not have before to make it go smoothly. I have all the paperwork needed to register open and ready for the new owner to register in their name etc, all will be sent certified mail once funds are cleared.
In closing, my reputation on here means a lot to me, and my enthusiasm for these cars and the people that enjoy them is my favorite part of the hobby. Please feel free to consider my feedback, and or speak with anyone that has purchased a car from me in the past if you have any concerns. Thanks again for the interest in this awesome little Westy, and good luck with the bidding :) Cheers, Brando
