Vehicle description

1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible, numbers matching with VW birth certificate. This Karmann was restored in the early 2000s and was used as a show car. In that time the owner put about 500 miles on the car, mostly loading on and off trailers for shows. The car is surprisingly original including the steel rims dated 9/71 and the car has a birth date of 10/71. When the car was restored in the 2000s it was painted to this silver, it has also been painted red at some point in its life. The pan was replaced when the car was restored and is in good shape, some surface rust to tend to but that is expected with a 20yr old restoration. The body is straight but does have some areas in the rear fender wells that could use tending along with the battery area. I take my wife on weekly dates in the car and cruise it for hours at a time without issue. This is the perfect car to start a solid restoration with or even a daily/weekend cruiser. The top is in good condition with a few minor issues. The interior is near perfect save the small tear in the passenger seat next to the seat belt and the tops of the headrests being slightly faded. The only items not working in the instrument cluster are the trip meter on the speedometer and the clock. The Speedometer works and tracks mileage accurately, the fuel gauge works, oil and alternator lights work properly. There is a cigarette lighter installed in the dash next to the radio that is not hooked up. The glove box opens and closes as it should along with the hood release working properly. Under the glove box the fuel release works as it should. Behind the drivers seat is the deck lid release that is in need of repair, we leave the deck lid unlatched so we do not have to fight the latch. The engine was gone through by a professional aircooled VW shop here in central Florida and everything is in working order. The car runs great, stops amazing with the front disc brakes, and shift through all gears with ease. We love this car but as a growing family the 2 seater no longer makes sense for us.
In the last 6 months the car has had the following work done by a reputable aircooled VW shop: -All new brakes in the front to include rotors, calipers, pads
-New rear brake shoes -Front wheel bearings -All new tires all around with less than 1000 miles on them -Engine tins removed and heads/case cleaned of build-up
-Alternator upgrade -Carb rebuilt -New coil -New electronic ignition/distributor -All new fuel lines in the rear -New oil pressure sending unit -Spark plugs and wires -Valves adjusted -Oil changed with high quality aircooled oil -New heater tubes in engine bay -Throttle cable replaced -Bluetooth head unit installed -All lights gone through and working, including interior dome light and gauge back lights -Thermostat bellows replaced
