Vehicle description
This 1972 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a factory HO model powered by a 455ci V8 paired with an automatic transmission. The car has been repainted in the original Cameo White with blue graphics, and it features a black vinyl interior. Equipment includes honeycomb-style alloy wheels, a center console, air conditioning, an AM/FM Delco radio, and tilt steering. It comes with service records, copies of the build sheet and window sticker, and a clean title. The body has been repainted in the original Cameo White (904), and blue factory-style graphics were reapplied. Honeycomb-style 15″ alloy wheels are fitted with Goodyear Eagle GT tires. Due in part to a 174-day factory strike, the lowest-production year for the second-generation Firebird was 1972, when 1,286 Trans Ams were built. The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with matching carpets and interior plastics. Optional equipment includes a center console, an electric rear-window defroster, an AM/FM Delco radio, and a tilting steering column. The optional air conditioning system has been recently serviced and recharged with R12 refrigerant. Instrumentation is housed in a turned-aluminum dash fascia panel and includes a 160-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer with an integrated clock. The five-digit odometer shows just under 46k miles. The numbers-matching 455ci High Output V8 was rated at 300 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent rearward via a three-speed automatic transmission. The body-colored hood scoop features a functional induction flap that actuates in response to large throttle openings. The car was built with a 3.08:1 rear axle with limited-slip differential (GQ1, GU4, G80), Heavy Duty suspension (F41), and power disc brakes (JL2). The window sticker shows that the car’s original retail price was $5,297.75, including $1,042 in optional equipment.
