Vehicle description
General – Do you have an engine and just need the truck? What I have here is a no reserve , Montana high country pickup, missing its engine. It is a 1972 GMC Super Custom, one of the most sought after of the 1960s – 1970s. The best part of this truck is it is a 2500 series, three quarter ton, so it could do some work for you. The little 1500s and C10s are nice but they are mostly for show. This one would make a great shop truck, tow vehicle, construction truck, toy hauler, or use for farm or ranch work. Advertise your business, club, race team, cause or whatever on its doors. It is an excellent candidate for total restoration, or with an engine drive as is for work or play, (see pictures). Also, the truck does have a clear Montana title.
Body and exterior - This old survivor still has its original paint with awesome patina, the truck has great stance and character. There is some rust in the truck, mostly the normal low down areas, and a little in the floors,(see pictures). The truck came out of the wheat and cattle country in north central Montana near the Canadian border, so it has some dents, some dings, and blemishes. The glass is all there and only the windshield is cracked with one b ullet hole. The tailgate is in pretty tough shape but, I have a better Chevy one of the correct era. I will include it for the buy it now price. The wheels are stock 16 inch, the tires are weather checked but have good tread. No spare came with the truck to me but, for the buy it now price I will include a spare tire and wheel.
Mechanical - The engine was only recently pulled so the brakes, seals etc. have not deteriorated from sitting for years; the brake pedal is still up. I have a factory radiator and shroud which I will include for the buy it now price. The transmission is a four speed and, and legend has it the clutch was recently replaced. The differential seems correct, or of the right era. Beyond this description I do not know much, as I have never driven the truck.
Interior – Amazingly complete, (see pictures)! The instrument panel, factory steering wheel, factory radio, heater controls, knobs, and switches, etc. are all present, nothing is, cut up, cobbled up, nor are there massive quantities of wires hanging out of the dash. The seat is not original.
S ummary – This 49 year old truck is an excellent example of originality and is very complete. Your engine options are limited to only what you have lying around . It deserves rescue and another chance to be put back on the road and maybe even show up at your local car show or cruise.
