Vehicle description
1972 Charger Bought several years ago as a project after sitting since 1981 in a building on a ranch near Austin, Texas(I have its last plate and original winshield with inspection sticker). Car was 100% rust free with just dents, I have before pics and build pics to prove it. Odometer shows 35,000 miles which may be original going off the pedal wear and fact that it was barely 9 years old at the time. However, it was an A/C 318/904 automatic car with a 7 1/4 rear and I completely went away from that. The car is now completely rebuilt, details below. Sorry if it"s wordy I replaced a lot of stuff on this thing.
Drivetrain: Rebuilt 92 Ram factory roller cam LA360, Weiand intake, FiTech GoEFI600 EFI setup with external pump, Holley hydramat in tank, 2000 stall converter, rebuilt 727 trans with shift kit, high torque starter, rebuilt 8 3/4 rear with used limited slip 3:55 gear center installed. Exhaust consists of Hedman ceramic headers routed to Magnaflow 2.5" stainless exhaust with machine gun tips. Aluminum radiator with twin dual speed electric cooling fans connected to multispeed fan controller. Air conditioning completely replaced with modern Sanden compressor, new hoses, brackets and condenser. Heater box removed and restored with new foam and heater core.
Interior: Front seats received new foams and covers, rear seats recovered as well. Installed new headliner, tuff steering wheel(original included), upper and lower door panels front and rear, carpet, dash and visors. Stereo replaced with new 4 speaker retro classic audio setup with mp3 and aux in, new antenna as well. Door, window and trunk weatherstrips replaced as well as all window fuzzies. Roof, floors and trunk all lined with sound deadener.
Body and suspension: New drilled and slotted front disc brakes as well as new rear drums, upper control arms, ball joints, steering arms, steering gear, master cylinder and booster, hoses and shocks. Upgraded to larger front swaybar and added rear swaybar. Body had zero rust when started, painted original gold in base/clear, new top, R/T stripe kit, new mopar windshield and a new washer setup. Go wing added with correct mounts. Wheels and tires are new with 5 very nice original poverty caps. Car runs and drives nice, everything works(except the clock), it shows well and handles nice. It"s basically a very nice frame on style restoration. I have driven it little since finishing it, it sits outside now since I took in another project and I need the space and funds. That said it does have some flaws, the headliner could be restretched as it has loosened a bit. The bumpers are better than average but the rear bumper has a dent that needs taken out or replaced. The carpet has a small patch in front of the console where a prior gauge set was, hard to see but its there. There are some marks in the paint that should wet sand and buff out, a few dents were missed and the top had a small tear at the base of the back window that was repaired. There is a half gallon of basecoat included and a second stripe kit should it be needed. The clock is inop and since it sits too much the trans has started to drip from the speedo housing and tail shaft seal. The EFI is still learning and may need some final tuning and it seems to have an squeal/air leak noise coming from the throttle body when the secondaries open above half throttle.
