Vehicle description
Has been sitting outside under a tarp since 1988 and needs complete restoration.
Have not touched the engine yet other than taking out the water pump, AC unit, alternator and take out the plugs to put in some deep creep and diesel. It does need a rebuild.
Has not been started since 1988. Have all the engine parts, Radiators, Genuine GS455 Air breather, AC unit is still on there, Genuine Grill and bumper.
Quarter panels where the chromes go were repaired with fiberglass at one time and would recommend to be done with metal patches.
Blue with white vinyl top. Very nice combination.
Very rare Original bench front seats, AC, originally came with 8 track under dash radio from the factory.
Floor boards look great and cleaned up from underneath. Will need new mufflers and pipes. These are corroded.
The Serial number which shows the engine specs and everything, you need to know.
ENGINES
The 455 signifies the selection of sales code A9. With its 4.31 x 3.90 bore and stroke, five main bearings, hydraulic lifters and Rochester four-barrel carburetor, which is still on the vehicle, The 1972 V8 455 models have the same big-block that had been introduced for the 1970 model year.
DIFFERENTIAL
The power transfer point was a corporate 10-bolt open differential containing an 8.50-inch ring gear and semi-floating axles. 455/automatic combo has a 3.08:1 gear, with 3.42:1
TRANSMISSIONS
Both the A9 and A1 engines mandated that GS buyers had a choice between the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission This automatic is shifted via column-mounted lever. It contained three forward speeds; the ratios were 2.48, 1.48 and 1.00:1, with a reverse ratio of 2.08:1.
Just to give you an idea of how good of a deal you are getting. Consider this; Never mind the rest of the parts on this original car.
