Vehicle description
1971 Triumph TR6 Roadster. This car was reconditioned in 2012 when we bought it, and we have kept it running smoothy. It comes with both the hard top and the soft top, as well as a California Car Cover. The car was repainted red before we purchased it. The paint has held up nicely. The wood dash inlay is free of cracks. The interior is tan and in great shape with the original carpet and TR6 floor mats. All the gauges work: the Oil, Fuel, and Temp gauges are Smyth; the Electrical is Lucas. The horn works and the head lights, tail, marker, license plate, and hazard lights and blower mower all work. The head lights are balanced. The wipers work, but we were never able to make the washer pump work stay working, even after installing three new washer pumps.
The straight six cylinder engine starts and purrs like a kitten. The four speed shifts well, and the breaks stop fine. She is ready for the road.
The only addition that is not stock is we installed a breather tank for crankcase ventilation. The restoration work was done by Gary Barnes and the expert mechanics at Hampton Automative in Towson, MD.
The following is the list of the work done on the car since 2012: - Removed the cylinder head and replaced the cylinder head gasket, replaced the "4" frozen studs, resurfaced head/decarboned the valves. - Replaced the front disc pads, resurfaced the front disc rotors,, cleaned and repacked the wheels - Replaced the hazard switch, installed a signal dash unit. - Sandblasted the wheels, primed and refinished the wheels in argent silver, mounted and balanced four new 8205 Optimo Hankook tires. - Replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump, and fabricated new lines - Overhauled the two carburetors - Major engine tune up, chases lube - Replaced rear breaks/wheel cylinders - Replaced door, trunk, and glove box locks - Replaced driver side mirror - Replaced break light switches - Replaced leaking master cylinder for break system, flushed entire system - Replaced leaking clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, bleed the system - Replaced oil pressure switch - Replaced rear muffler assembly - Removed rocker arm assembly and valve springs to retrofit/install 12 valve stem oil seals. - Replaced horns - Replaced R/R brake adjustor
There is some surface rust on the underside due to its age.
