The "GT6" is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranties expressed or implied.
I had purchased this GT6 along with another sports car from an older Triumph enthusiast that had purchased it over 20 years ago for a weekend cruiser. It was always used on the nicest of days. The GT6 is an older restored example that was rarely used since the restoration. It originally came from Texas as noted by 1980 Inspection sticker on the windshield. It was last on the road about 7 years ago and is being sold in non running condition. It was always garage stored.
During the winters, the owner worked on the Triumph slowly detailing the engine compartment. The engine had been painted as well as the valve cover and bulkhead. A new brake master cylinder was installed, new front tires were purchased. Also tune up components. The owner was not mechanically inclined, so he focused on the things he could do.
The body is in good condition as shown in the pictures. The body is very straight and does not have any dents. The body does have some rust bubbles - most specifically on the bottom of the driver"s side door, the bottom of the passenger side front fender. Also has some on the inside of the hatch and a few small bubbles on the outside. I will include pics of some of these areas. When the car was restored back in the day, they used wide stick on door molding on the rocker panels when the car was painted. There is evidence of some rust behind them. The underside is solid and shows a previous floor repair on the driver"s side. The passenger side does show some rust on the original floor pan. There are no door dings. Trunk/spare tire well is in good condition however there is not a spare. The body does present very nicely and the quality of the paint job is really very good.
Mechanically the Triumph is in non-running condition as previously noted. It was last on the road approximately 7 years ago. I was told that the transmission was professionally rebuilt with very few miles on it. The rear exhaust had been replaced at the same time and is in good condition. I did get it to run with a gas can and an electric fuel pump - however the carbs were leaking profusely, so I shut it off immediately. Both the clutch and brake master cylinders still have pressure. I would expect that the brakes, carbs and other mechanical/electrical work will be needed to make it roadworthy.
The interior is in good condition as detailed in the pictures. The seats are in nice condition with no rips or tears. The wood dash is in really nice condition - dash does not show any cracks. The previous owner did indicate that he was working on some of the gauge wiring, and I can see a few wires that are not connected. It does have a few aftermarket gauges including an oil pressure gauge. The radio bracket is not installed. Comes with one key. The carpet is in good condition however it is not factory correct carpet. The car is fitted with seatbelts.
* License plate not included.
I do not have a "buy it now" price, but would consider ending the auction early for a serious offer.
