Vehicle description
(855) 586-3413 (855) 586-3413 1971 Pontiac Firebird Coupe Trans Am Automatic 455ci V8 Ram Air Exterior Color: Cameo White Interior Color: Blue Vinyl Body Type: Coupe Transmission: Automatic Engine: 455ci V8 Ram Air Mileage: 21,554 A new look came about for Pontiac"s F-body Firebird in 1970 offering sleeker, more aerodynamic styling. As with the Chevrolet Camaro counterpart, tooling was delayed in the production facilities, so these second-generation Firebirds didn"t begin production until February 1970. The recently introduced Trans Am performance model in 1969 carried over to 1970, and by 1971 was sold with a big block 455ci High-Output Ram Air V8 as standard equipment for the first time! Only 2,116 would be produced, and today represent one of the last true Pontiac sports cars before Federal EPA and smog requirements would strip them of their true performance capacity.
We are excited to have the opportunity to offer this 1971 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am finished in factory code correct 11/11- Cameo White over 211- Blue Vinyl interior and powered by its number"s matching YE-coded 455ci V8 HO engine producing 335 horsepower & 480 ft. lbs. of torque through the 3-speed Turbo-Hydra-Matic transmission and 3.08 Safe-T-Track rear axle! The Trans Am model came well equipped with standard features to include leather-wrapped Formula steering wheel & shift knob, full dash instrumentation with tachometer, Handling Package with firmer shocks, front & rear anti-sway bars, and higher springs rates; power front disc brakes, functional engine heat extractors, color-matched sport mirrors with driver side remote adjustment, variable-ratio power steering, limited-slip rear differential, front air spoiler, rear deck spoiler, along with special Trans Am identification!
This 1971 Trans AM offered here also came ordered with factory air conditioning, Soft-Ray tinted glass, center console, push-button radio, Custom Trim Group, tilt column, roof trim molding, and custom seat belts. We believe the honeycomb wheels and stereo 8-track player were added later on according to the PHS documentation. It sold new from the Jim Moran Pontiac in January 1971 and apparently stayed with the Florida region most of its life. According to the former Ohio owner, he purchased it from a longtime Tampa Bay body shop owner who retained it in his collection since 1986. It has been lightly restored over the years to include new exterior paint, and mild interior refurbishment as needed. The air conditioning system has been converted to R134a. Included with the sale will be an owner"s manual, PHS documentation, and al recent service records since its arrival to the car museum. We look forward to scheduling you chance to review it in person! It presents a very special opportunity to the astute Pontiac collector!
