I purchased this car from a gentleman that told me he had the car about 3-4 years ago but wasn’t ready to let go of it.
He called me about a month ago wanting to sell the car, knowing it was a really cool car and that I was now in AZ and not Illinois I made arrangements for a friend to pick it up and keep it at his house until it either sells or I can pick it up and drag it out here to AZ.
So the car is a little funny. .
I t has a straight axle in it. . So they cut the lower inner fenders out and removed the shock towers. The original front frame rails were retained and are for the most part un-modified.
this thing is just about as good as you can get for a Midwest car. the crossmembers are perfect, rear frame rails are too.
Front floor pans are surface rust only and rears still have paint on them which continues under the back seat, over the rear axle, both full wheel wells and across the trunk all the way to the taillight panel. All still factory painted and super nice! !
the quarters have some holes where the quarter and rocker meet but the rockers are super underneath. The worst part is a pole the fell over and hit the passenger quarter panel, my buddy said he could pop it out and it wouldn’t be so noticeable but I want everybody to see it for what it is, very fixable.
The front fenders have a few small holes but they are really good compared to most.
Both doors are super solid with the drivers door having a good sized dent.
The original Shark Tooth grill is about as nice as you can get and not missing any teeth and has decent parking lights.
Both bumpers are very decent with the back bumper being slightly dented.
The taillights are nice and tail panel is rust free as are the trunk gutters and around both front and rear windows.
the dashboard is complete minus the original am radio. Rally Gauge cluster is in nice shape other than the plastic that as all is faded and someone cut for an aftermarket stereo.
The door panels and arm rests are almost like new! Front and rear! The seats had never been out until I had my friend clean the car up and look for the broadcast sheet. All trim is present.
The original engine is long gone but there was the A833 23 spline transmission, bellhousing, shift fork, flywheel, pressure plate and driveshaft in the trunk along with the original non console shifter and shift rods.
the 8.75 rear differential does not have a center section but is original to the car.
The straight axle is a dropped aftermarket unit that was installed fairly well but could be removed, new inner fenders and shock towers replaced, a proper V8 K member and she would be ready for a proper 340.
Or what I was going to do, get some 10” cragar SS for the rear, build a nasty 340/360 and drive it like it was built, nose high and banging gears! Enjoy blowing peoples minds with a barnfind Street Freak and have a blast with it then give it the proper correct restoration the car deserves!
This thing is really cool and in exceptional condition compared to what else is out there. Plus it’s a Super Rare color combo and a 4 speed! !
