Vehicle description
This is my 1971 Mercury Cougar showing less than 30,000 miles. I am not certain because of age if that is a corect mileage, but judging from the condition of the interior, it well could be. However, becaue of age, it is being sold miles exempt.
The car is solid and rust-free, with the exeption of the hole shown where water dripped on the car while in storage and a slight showing around the wheels. However, the vinyl top shows no bubbling at all, and the rest of the car, frame and all, is solid. The existing problem is an easy fix.
The car has the highly desirable 351 CID V8, which in my mind is the best engine Ford ever built. It runs exceptionaly well, smooth and very powerful, while not requiring premium fuel. The paint appears to be original and te interior is untouched and showing very little wear. This could be because this car was a serious upgrade from the Mustang on which is was formerly based. By 1971, however, it had veered away from its plebian Falcon/Mustang roots into a luxury/performance car in its own right.
This car can be driven anywhere and is very reliable. Prior to my ownership, it had a new gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, valve cover gaskets and a new ignition coil installed. I have a new HEI distributor and shocks which have yet to be installed which, of course, go along with the car. The car displays beautiful 17" x 7" wheels, which I like very much, and the original wheels, tires and wheel covers go with the car, if the buyer so desires. The previous owner had the car for many years, and took very good care of it.
I am only selling it as I found a yellow Cougar with AC that suits me better in Texas weather.(You can see it in one of the pictures.) Otherwise I would keep the car as it drives so well and I really like it. All that being said, it is still a 47 year-old car and is being sold without warranty or guaranty of any kind. IT is sold AS-IS, and where is and the new owner is responsible for shipping. However, it is now in covered storage and can remain until you can ship it - after payment, of course. Deposit due after auction to ensure your good intentions, and balance due by wire or cashier"s check. If you are not picking it up for awhile, I will take a personal check. I do ot accept PayPay, they have shafted me for the last time, but otherwise I am easy to deal with.
The car is honest, and if there were any further slings and arrow of outrageous fortune, I would tell you so. I don"t like those phone calls later. My feedback is 100% and I want to keep it that way. Thanks for looking and hopefully bidding strongly.
