Vehicle description
Selling my 1971 Cutlass S post coupe. I bought this car in 2013 from the second owner, who lived in Milwaukee. The original South Carolina owner purchased it new in "71 and used it for his job as a salesman. He owned it up until 2013 when it was sold to the gentleman that I purchased it from. This car has never seen snow or inclement weather in Wisconsin. When I bought it, it was a super original 350/350 car and very solid as well. I removed the original untouched 350 rocket and TH350 transmission, and installed a 455/TH400 combo. All machine work/motor rebuild completed at about 117,000 miles. Car currently shows 124,804 on the odometer. The car has had the following done to it:
Drivetrain: 0.030 over 455 Oldsmobile motor with mildly ported G heads, port matched Edelbrock intake, Holley 750 DP, Erson TQ50 camshaft, Speedpro forged pistons, high volume oil pump, 7 quart oil pan, Hooker Competition headers, MSD distributor. TH400 built by B&C transmissions in Machesney Park Illinois with 3500 stall and a mild shift kit. Stock 8.5 inch 10 bolt rearend with bolt in axles and 3.42 posi. TA Performance 3 inch aluminized exhaust with Flowmaster 3 chamber mufflers, new/ balanced driveshaft with heavy duty u joints and driveshaft loop. Aluminum radiator and heavy duty circle track transmission cooler.
Suspension and brakes: Stock front upper and lower control arms with all new polyurethane bushings, 1.25 inch front sway bar, Trick Chassis rear tubular control arms with adjustable uppers and polyurethane bushings, Hellwig 1 5/16 inch rear sway bar, new heavy duty F41 coil springs all around, new upper and lower ball joints, Bilstein shocks all around in 2019, front disc brake conversion with manual brake booster and stainless steel brake lines throughout. 225/70r15 front and 275/6015 Cooper Cobra radial tires on 15x6 and 15x8.5 Wheel Vintique steelies with Oldsmobile dog dish hubcaps.
Interior:
New carpet, headliner, front and rear seat covers, seat foam, package tray, sail panels. All door panels are in very good to excellent condition. Dashpad is in excellent condition with no cracks. Dash itself is also in excellent condition. Original AM radio is present but does not work. I installed a new dash speaker a few years ago. New glovebox liner. Autometer tachometer installed in place of blank gauge in dash. Color matched rubber "Oldsmobile" floor mats, heavyduty sound proofing deadener under carpet.
Body:
When I purchased it, it had very minor bubbling on bottoms of fenders and quarters. I had a local paint shop weld in new metal and spray the sides of the car to match the roof, hood, and deck lid. I clayed and polished the rest of the paint as well. Floor pans were very solid when I pulled the carpet. Trunk pan is also super solid. All new weather strip in doors, hood seal, and trunk lid. Pulled windshield and had it resealed a small metal patch welded in near the base. New window fuzzies as well. All trim/bumpers are original with typical wear but very straight.
This has been a great car and I"m sad to see it go, but it"s time. I drove this from Wisconsin to Tennessee and back during Hotrod Power Tour 2019 and it performed flawlessly. It is a great street car and I"ve taken very good care of it. I"ve included a link to a video of it here: https:/ youtu.be/H5Gs1c30V4g
