Vehicle description

1970 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. This was a ground up restore that is about 7 years old and has around 20k miles on the build. Frame was blasted and painted. Engine is a 1984 2F that was completely rebuilt. The head was shaved .100 for increases compression. It has electronic ignition, a Weber carb, and a header. The trans and transfer are 84 FJ60 with stock gearing. The front axle has FJ60 disc brakes, an Auburn Positraction, Aisin hubs, Marlin Crawler hi-steer, and 3.73 gears. The axle was cut and turned and has 6 degrees of caster. It does not have a steering stabilizer and has never needed one. It has a Saginaw power steering box and a GM pump. The rear has a Powertrax no-slip locker and 3.73 gears. It has FJ60 drums and a late model cable and handle for the emergency brakes. The steering column and wheel is 81 FJ40. The steering column has a slip joint and Borgeson u-joints. It has a full cage and 3 point seat belts front and rear. Rear seat folds down and forward. The rear gate is an original drop down one piece but it is not currently hinged. The rear tire carrier and cargo box is mounted solid. The body was stripped to bare metal and the rear sill and quarters were repaired with steel panels. The diamond plate was added for strength for the rack. It could be removed and the mounting holes filled if desired. Tires are 35 12.50x15 Goodyear MTRs. The spare is the new tread pattern and has never been on the ground. Others have approximately 50% and are worn evenly.
It has a Spector Off Road Tiger top that is in great condition. It is stored indoors in the winter. It also comes with a family bikini top and the original hard doors. Never had a hard top for it.
This is the second 40 that I build with this suspension system. The front springs are FJ40 with low profile shackle reversal. The rear springs are FJ60. Shocks are Rancho 9000 with adjustable dampening. I have driven this 40 to Moab 3 times. 600 miles one way. We family wheeled trails like Hells Revenge, Fins and Things, etc. The one I built before this was wheeled on Moab Rim, Poison Spider, Golden Spike, and Moab Rim. Most of the miles are from daily driving and weekends in the local mountains. This rig will cruise comfortably at 75 down the highway all day long. It lacks the low gearing for the harder technical trails.
There is some paint damage from the gas fill and a quarter size dent and chip on the cowl.
Selling this rig to finance a build on a 79 FJ40. It is available any time for inspection. I can help deliver depending on the direction. Rapid City, SD, Billings, MT, Denver CO. Etc.
