Vehicle description
This is a real numbers matching 1970 Oldsmobile 442. It has the original numbers matching 455. The VIN is clearly stamped on the engine pad. It has the original Turbo 400 transmission. The car has bucket seats with Hurst His & Hers shifter. It does have the smooth cover Oldsmobile 12-bolt with boxed control arms, heavy duty rear sway bar, P/S, Disc Brakes. The engine has a performance build using suggested parts from Mondelo. It has Engle cam 544 lift, I do have the Cam Card. The original E cylinder heads which apply to 442 only, were reworked. There are head studs, Moroso Oil pan, Edelbrock intake, M/T valve covers and was told much more done to the engine but can"t verify. The transmission has a performance converter, It comes with new, stainless factory bent transmission lines, the car has a set of Hooker Headers in the trunk - all of the exhaust is with the car except the mufflers. HEI distributor, plug wires are included. The car has a new W30 Oldsmobile air induction hood. There is a new pair of floor pans that are included - they have gotten wet and have surface rust (see photos) There is a few extra pieces of glass included in the sale - a pair of door glass and one rear quarter glass, these are extra pieces for the car. The car has a new trunk lid with W30 rear wing and there is a brand new front bumper. The trunk floor has rust, the bottoms of the rear quarters, floor pans and area below the rear window and other typical spots have rust, the inner and outer wheel houses look useable. a very restorable car, the firewall is very nice, the frame is solid with no rust through that I saw. I have ownership history back to 1996 and the car was reported to be a driver until partial disassembly for the purpose of restoration and the project stalled and then I acquired it. I believe that this was a very original car up until 1996 when the previous owner made it a hot street rod reworking the original engine and trans, This car is a valuable car when it"s done although it does need a complete restoration. Production numbers are low for a 442 in 1970. When you search for these cars, you find a lot of clones - this is a documented 442. It"s documented in the VIN number and in the trim tag. The beginning of the VIN sequence is also stamped there. You rarely find a car like this with the original engine and trans. . most of those cars have been bought and restored. See the breakdown of the VIN and Trim tag below.
