Vehicle description

LULU True Triple Black factory (990 19 B) 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible 455ci Engine (TV), Automatic TH400 (OG), 12 bolt O type 3.23 rear (SE) with A/C. I purchased the car in 2008 with 104,000 miles from the Hoopingarner family that restored the car in 1998/2000, the car has approximately 115,000 miles currently. Car has been started at least every month that I have owned it, never been in the rain or snow driven only in the spring, summer and fall in Pennsylvania. Drive train is all original. 455 Engine was rebuilt in 2000 and I rebuilt the top end in 2009 to upgrade the heads for modern fuels. TH400 Transmission was rebuilt, and torque converter upgraded in 2009. Rear rebuilt and upgraded to 3.23 (SF Code) limited slip in 2009. Engine compartment may be the most correct looking you may ever see. Engine compartment very correct. Pertronix III electronic ignition system with adjustable rpm rev-limiter installed under distributer cap. Original brake system OEM restored in 2009 and original mastercylinder restored in 2021. Original distributer, intake, heads, block, starter, alternator, power steering gear box and water pump (all professionally restored or rebuilt). Car is running a high-end aluminum radiator, but I have Harrison 4 core in storage. (Goes with car) Can’t verify original carb Quadrajet 7040251 rebuilt 2009, fuel pump AC 40712, power steering pump or A6 AC Delco R12 A/C compressor 6556406. Car still using Freon R12. 5 x SSII wheels not original to car but sand blasted and restored to OEM with argent gray paint in 2009. Car seats have been replaced with leather OEM 990 style pattern. Rug and door panel original. Everything works on the dash, Tic Toc Tach works but is not accurate! Tilt steering wheel with sport steering wheel. Power steering and brakes. Power convertible top with glass back window. Car has a very rare factory 4-way power bench seat, restored in 2010 and listed on build sheet (Build sheet goes with car). There are some value-added items that have been added to car. (Not factory but NOS OEM) W-25 hood and intake package, front hood locking system, power trunk lock opener, TCS system, sport mirrors, Delco AM radio upgraded to AM/FM stereo 4 speaker (original unmolested AM radio goes with car) and W-27 aluminum rear cover. Hi quality AC Delco Energizer R71S replica battery installed 2018. Now the oddities, in January thru March 1970 in Freemont California the factory was doing it"s own thing on the production line in 3 areas. 2 I have confirmed and 1 I haven’t. NON-Standard VIN derivatives stamped on engine and transmission pads (in my case 03Z118707 and not 30Z118707) and convertible top switch on dash in cruise control position. Both confirmed factory! The third, the 7040251 Quadrajet carburetor installed, instead of the correct 7040257. Was told by a few different 442 enthusiasts that the 7040257carburetors were hard to come by in early 1970 so they put 7040251s on to keep the production line going. Can’t verify yet! If you own BF 00123 or BF 00125 stamped on Body by Fisher tag under hood (This car is production BF 00124), let me know what carburetor you have on your cars? [email protected] Overall, the car is in great shape mechanically and has only minor road rash. Oil changed (Mobil 1) and K&N air filter cleaned every spring. If I was going to do anything to the car, I’d have the undercoating replaced and have the tic toc tach restored. LULU is a pleasure to drive and own, she can be driven anywhere, she needs nothing but a good home and occasional TLC! For people with more OCD than me, see below.
