Vehicle description
1970 Chevelle SS396 - Real Deal Very rare - highly optioned with Build Sheet California built car! Cranberry Red – White Bucket Seat Interior Great Original Color Combination VIN # 136370L132481 This is an extremely rare and very nice 1970 Chevelle SS396, real deal documented with the original build sheet. This Chevelle was factory ordered with an incredible number of options. It also retains its factory paint color combination of Cranberry Red w/Parchment bucket seat interior. The Chevelle has had a partial restoration, its been repainted and the interior redone, but is mostly original and has been well maintained over the years. The engine is out of a 1971 Chevelle (CLB code). The Turbo 400 transmission and rear end are original to the car. See the photos and decoding of all the numbers below. This Chevelle was built at the Van Nuys, California plant and shipped to Madisons Chevrolet in Scottsdale Arizona. The car is quite unique because it came with some extremely rare options from the factory, seldom seen on Chevelles and almost never seen ordered all in one car. Some of these rare options include: Power windows (1 of 20,792 made), power locks (1 of 5,482 made) , the ZL2 ducted (cowl induction) hood system, 3.31 ratio rear end, Posi-traction rear end, bucket seats with center console, power steering, factory air-conditioning, remote drivers side mirror, vanity visor mirror, an AM/FM radio in dash, the light monitoring system (early fiber optic) (1 of 5,755 made), windshield washer jar monitor, rear window defogger, electric clock, map light, tilt steering column, comfort grip 3-spoke steering wheel, deluxe seat belts, underhood light, trunk light, glove box light, ash tray light, front and rear bumper guards, etc. Standard SS options on the car include power disc brakes, dual exhaust with chrome extensions and F41 special performance suspension. The car has been well maintained over the years and it shows. The Chevelle is well sorted, it starts right up, drives, steers, stops and handles great. There are no weird rattles and it rides nice and solid over bumps in the road, etc. What was restored on the car was done with a great attention to detail. The paint on the car shines beautifully, the stripes were painted under the clear. I would consider the paint on the higher driver quality side, it was not painted yesterday but looks really nice. All the electricals work such as lights, the horn, brake lights, turn signals, interior lights, glove box light, trunk light, wipers, etc. The radio does not work, although it is the original am/fm unit. The interior looks amazing as well. The car has chambered exhaust that looks relatively new and sounds great. The original radiator was replaced at some point with an aluminum Be-Cool radiator and the car runs at 180 degrees. The air conditioning was upgraded to R134 and works well - blows cold! The ignition has been upgraded to HEI and the carburetor is a 4-bbl quadrajet. The undercarriage is clean as you would expect on a car originally from the western states. The trunk is super nice and there are no seams on the inside of the quarter panels, which appear to be original to the car. There is an original 6x9 speaker grill in the rear package tray along with the rear window defogger and the rear light monitoring indicator. All the glass appears to be new and in great shape. The car still has the original jack and jacking equipment in thr trunk, along with a 5th factory SS wheel for the spare. The Chevelle comes with the original owners manual and original dealer brochure from 1970 - and a build sheet. This is a rare opportunity to own an iconic ‘real deal’ Chevelle 396 L34, not a clone. I have owned and seen a lot of Chevelles with options over the years but never with this many rare factory options in one car. These 70-SS big block Chevelle true matching number documented cars are very hard to find in this kind of condition, especially with these options - and if you do find one the price will be much higher than my reserve. This Chevelle is a collector grade vehicle that will earn you money the longer you keep it (more than in a savings account). The values for these original documented cars are going nowhere but up, I can assure you because I have had several through the years that I have sold and wish I still had them. People are paying stupid prices for clones and this car is the real deal. I am not a dealer. I am selling this car for a good friend of mine who has a collection of cars, including this one, which he keeps in his air-conditioned garage. If you need your wife’s, girlfriend’s or mother’s permission to bid, get that before you place a bid. If you pay with a personal check or cashiers check or bank check, according to my bank, the check must clear, so please give that time before you pick up the vehicle. Good luck! Bid early and message me for any questions and I can call you back. Bid with confidence as I have been on EBAY selling for 24 years with 100% Positive Feedback! Check my feeback as a seller! Good luck…. CODE INFORMATION:
