I bought this car from the widow of the original owner. It is as nice as one can ask a 50 year old car to be without a formal restoration. There has been a few things done like carpet and a dash overlay but most of the car is as it was born. The paint is better than a five footer but it does have typical chips and such. I am told 95% of the paint is original. I do not know where the 5% part is. There is no rust anywhere that I can find. Original exhaust pipes, glass, carb and so on, very special car.
The driveline is original to the car. This is where the problem comes in. I bought the car to drive, but I noticed the RH exhaust pipe is smoking excessively. My diagnosis is the number 6 cylinder has had detonation issues and oil is blowing by. I have changed the intake gasket with no remedy. Compression is good all around. The engine was completely overhauled 5000 miles ago according to the lady I got it from. Keep I mind this is a matter that has to be addressed. I am not capable or ready to deal with engine removal and such, so it for sale.
I feel the price reflects someone dealing with the engine issue, If you feel it does not , this is not the car for you. Based on the prices of various listings and sales this one is a deal for what it is. There is only 114 1970 BIG BAD BLUE AMX"s and lots fewer with a factory shadow mask. Less than a hand full like this in any color.
