Im letting this truck go it"s a 1969 International Harvester 1100 4x4. I don"t want to part this truck out. I think it would make a killer project with multiple possibilities. Cut the wheel wells and slap some 38"s on it to take mudding or leave it be and use it as a farm truck or make it into your dream hunting rig. The foundation for this project is endless. This truck was towed out of the desert and was told it was on a farm there a lot of its life So rust is minimal
This truck has no power steering and no power brakes. The front axle is a solid front axle with disc brakes. It is a 4 speed manual on the floor and has a 345V8. The engine sounds good but spits and sputters some because it needs a tune up. There is no rod knock or anything like that. See link below to YouTube video. I"ve driven it around the parking lot at work in 4wd high and 2wd high. The hubs are IH hubs and I was able to turn them from locked to free. The wheels are 32" and are 8 lug. The tires have some cracks from the sun but have never given me any problems. As of now the truck has rear tail lights, headlights, two led turn signals on the rear that are wired to a switch on the dash and brake lights. I have the org am radio working but it won"t change stations . The windshield wipers work. All the glass is good on the truck and the windows go up and down the driver side needs some adjustment because it stays about 1/4 inch down.
The person who had the truck before me cut a hole in the door panel but I put some diamond plate over it. The instrument panel looks nice. The dash has a few cracks but nothing is missing. The seat needs to be recovered but has a cover over it for now.
The truck is on non op with the California DMV and has a clean title under my name. The cost to get the trucks tags is only $150 no smog test needed for this truck because of its age. It has not been on the road since 1990.
This truck does need some work and is a project. The wire harness needs to be replaced because it is all cut up. The heat from the desert took its toll on the connectors. Because of this most of the electrical systems have not been checked and I don"t know if they work. The drivers door lock works with the key the passengers side can only be locked from the inside because the key housing is gone. The brakes need some attention and the parking cable needs to be replaced because of a bend in it so truck will need to be trailed or towed from its current location. The outside of the truck was spray painted white and the inside spray painted black. The truck does have bumps and bruses and the top of the cab is a little wavy but nothing is smashed too bad with the exception of the sides where the tailgate goes, some sheet metal is missing, maybe rocks from being driven on a farm. The tailgate is gone. Few holes in bed but not from rust. The bed has a bed lift that is bolted through the bed to the frame. I tried to bleed the brakes but the master started to leak so I just stopped. The local auto store said it was $50 for a new one This probably will never be a show truck but it is a cool truck. People are always coming up to me to ask questions about it. It"s different to see an International.
