Vehicle description

How Rare is this car? According to the Oldsmobile"s company records, there were 906 Hurst/Olds produced in 1969 and less than 250 built with Air Conditioning. In 1969, with less than 1,000 total vehicles being produced, the 1969 Hurst Oldsmobile with its amazing brand new look that had a gorgeous Firefrost Gold and Cameo White color combination; its amazing "Mailbox" hood scoops that could get anyone"s attention and was the car that was dubbed the "Hairiest Oldsmobile" by Motor Trend Magazine was a "RARE Beast" even back in 1969 when it was built!
"Snarls softly and carries a BIG stick"
That is the experience the 455CI Hurst Olds promised in 1969. Jack "Doc" Watson made sure that the signature "Hurst Gold" on Cameo White, English racing mirrors, hand applied black pin striping, die cast Hurst/Olds emblems, and gold trimmed interior was more than just a pretty appearance package. The dual-snorkel fresh air system forced air own the gullet of the 455. W-30 heads, cam, and distributor made sure the mixture of fuel and forced air made an explosive 380 hp and 500 pound-feet of torque. A performance modified Turbo Hyra-matic is shifted by a dual-gate Hurst shifter. Heavy duty suspension, power front disc brakes, and even the giant decklid spoiler rounded out the performance package. The rear air foil holds the backend to the road, creating 15lbs of down force at 60 mph, and 64 pounds at 120 mph. In the end "Doc" Watson got his way. The popularity of the Hurst/Olds 455 ended the GM imposed 400 CI displacement limit ended in 1970, paving the way for the W (for Watson) -30.
Vehicle Description Not only is this car a rare 1969 Hurst Edition Oldsmobile but it has undergone a complete restoration over 25 years ago and still shows extremely well today. Many of these cars have been selling in the six figure range. Everything on the car is in great condition to the year, make, model, of this car. The 455 H.O. is matching number block and packs plenty of power. It was completely rebuilt and balanced about 2000 miles ago so it is virtually still new. This car was owned by a master mechanic and meticulously maintained. When he rebuilt the motor he used a set of "E" heads as no one really cared about numbers matching parts 25 years ago. I do have an extra set of "D" heads that can be purchased separately for an additional $6000.00. This vehicle presents itself extremely well for an older restoration if you wanted to install the "D" heads it would be very easy to detail the engine compartment to be looking better than showroom new! It is coated in the original Cameo White and Firefrost Gold accents which is in excellent condition for 25 years old. The car rides on the original 15"x7" Super Stock II wheels built only for the 1969 Hurst Olds and Goodyear Eagle ST tires. Everything has a beautiful finish with all hoses and wires being nicely routed. The original Turbo 400 transmission shifts smoothly with zero issues. The positraction 3:23 rear end is set up to make for an extremely nice cruiser with plenty of room to get up and go if needed. The original interior has all the original door panels, seat covers and is finished in all black. The Gold accents on the headrests are correct to the car and as can be expected one has a small crack in it as these cars are over 50 years old, along with wood grain accents break up the interior. Even the interior dome lights are there and working. The dual gate shifter is mounted in the center console and is a feature specific to this style of car. It came as standard on the Hurst/Olds. The factory Air Conditioning is another rare option as less than 250 were built with A/C!
I currently own five 1969 H/O"s and anyone that knows me certainly knows that I never sell any of the cars in my collection. One of them is on display at the Gilmore Museum and has only 12,000 original miles. This car is be sold because I"m finishing up two 69 H/O"s that have gone through a frame off restoration. I"m going to keep the fourth one as my driver. This is a rare opportunity to own one the most solid cars I have ever seen and it would be a prized possession in any collection. I"m happy to answer any questions you may have in regards to this car and can be reached anytime at 847-525-9200. This car can be seen by private appointment or on any Saturday in my museum as I have it opened every weekend for friends and the general public.
