Vehicle description
1969 American Motors AMX, 390 cid, 4 speed manual, GoPack, Bittersweet Orange repaint (the original color). The previous owner did some restoration on the interior (seats, headliner), exterior (paint, wheels), had the motor rebuilt, installed a new starter and clutch and a few other things. It"s mostly original, missing a few parts such as the air injection system (I have most of the parts in boxes) and a jack. It still has the inflatable spare, which amazingly holds air. The car is not perfect, the seats will need to be rebuilt as the foam is hardened and crumbling. It"s not detailed under the hood, the radio doesn"t work (turns on, lights up, some static) and the interior carpet has a weird greenish tinge, could be the original. In spite of the engine work done by the previous owner, it still leaks some oil. One of the rear wheel seals is leaking, I have the parts but just don"t have the time to do it. I have a correct three row radiator (the original was replaced with a 2 row long ago) for the car along with OEM exhaust manifolds (the car currently has headers and an aftermarket exhaust system). The steering wheel hub has a good sized crack in it, there are guys out there who specialize in repairing these. The wipers are kinda slow (vacuum motor!). Other than that, everything works-all gauges, lights, horn, brakes, door locks, even the foot operated windshield washer. The tires are Redline radials on refinished Rallye wheels, just about new. I always stored the car inside.
Bottom line-not concours, but in good shape, no rust and fast. This car turns heads wherever I go, and is usually the only AMX at the various local car events I go to. I mean, everybody has a 60"s"s era Camaro, Charger or Mustang. These are rare.
The car comes with a bunch of spare parts, a bunch of little things I purchased new from American Parts Depot, factory repair manual, several used parts and interchange manuals, the AMC Group 19 handbook and a CD of AMX resources.
