Vehicle description
This 1968 Triumph GT6 MK. 1 is a good example of a very presentable, mechanically sound driver with a rare and much sought after electronic overdrive, as denoted by the "O" in its VIN. This car has less than 1000 miles on its rebuilt 1998cc inline 6 cylinder engine, which includes new pistons, valves, and silicon-bronze guides; new oil and water pump; new cam, main and rod bearings; line bored and balanced from flywheel to harmonic balancer with a lightened flywheel; and an upgrade to an optional alternator. Other recent mechanical and cosmetic servicing includes a complete rebuild of its Stromberg 150 CDs carbs, new front coil springs, windscreen, door panels, full carpet set, and a new headliner. The body is solid and pans have no rust.
Its original dash and dash support console are crack and rip free, with a period correct am/fm radio. All gauges and switches function well with the exception of the speedo, which apparently was once replaced and doesn"t appear properly geared with the car"s electronic overdrive. The gearbox shifts well, and its overdrive functions flawlessly in 3rd and 4th gears. The car has been resprayed in its original Royal Blue, bearing three small areas (edges) of overly excessive buffing that can be touched up (they are not evident in photographs). Glass is original (excepting the new front windscreen) in very good condition. Bumper chrome is average, and remaining brightwork is very nice. Wire wheels freshly painted and tires have plenty of life remaining.
To be clear - this is not a concours quality restoration. It is rather a very nice, mechanically sound, enjoyable driver that is fun to drive and would show well at local shows but not qualify for concours competition. My mechanic is available to field any questions regarding the car"s road-worthiness. His recommendation to me was to consider new brake lines if I was to drive the car regularly. Otherwise, it is mechanically sound. I"m selling this nice example of British motoring heritage because I"ve run out of storage space (my wife"s new pickup will take my garage slot). I will not leave this car to the elements.
Serious bidders only please. I require a 48 hour PayPal deposit of $500, balance by certified check or cash within 7 days. Buyer is responsible for pickup and any related shipping. Sold as-is, no warranties express or implied. I encourage serious buyers to speak with my mechanic and personally inspect the car.
