Vehicle description

1968 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible - A true 442 Convertible with a non matching 455. An excellent driver quality 442. I have driven this 442 extensively . It runs and drives well. When I say I drove it, I mean I drove it hard in the brutal heat. No overheating. The starter was a bit slow when it was 110, but it ran fantastic. There is plenty of power in every gear to roast the old bias ply"s to the rim. This 442 has power steering with manual brakes. I will detail the condition below.

The motor is said to be a 455, and has a casting number looks like a F or FA. I have been told the early stick type font is on 69 or early 70. The font is stick type number 2464. I believe the transmission is a Muncie M20. I do not think it was a 4 speed when it was new.
Body: The body work and paint is much older. I would guess early 2000"s. it is a base coat clear coat. The floor pans appear very nice. The drivers rear quarter has been replaced. I took pictures of what is not up to today"s standards. We have color sanded and rubbed the finish and it shows very well. The stainless and chrome all show well. None of it appears to be reproduction. All appear original. The top is power, and it works. Its not fast, but raises and lowers properly. The condition of the top is very good. the back window is a bit cloudy, and is plastic.
Interior: Interior shows as original and in very good condition. More original looking then restored. No rips, no tears. The gauges do work including the auxiliary temp and oil pressure under the dash. The interior and exterior lights work including the trunk light.
Motor and Transmission: Motor is the aforementioned 455. Runs great. Starts right up. Has great power. Slight hesitation when you nail it, and then immediately it will annihilate the tires into smoke. The rear is a limited slip, but it appears to want to just burn one tire easily. The clutch feels good, and grabs where it should. The transmission shifts well. The gears are very low. Maybe 3:73. This car is a major hoot to drive. The transmission has had the shaft welded, Pics are in the gallery.
Trunk: The trunk pan looks excellent. I do not see evidence of pan replacement but it looks fantastic. The spare tire and jack are present. The plate for the jack is not present.
Overall this 442 is a driver quality, fun to drive, dependable muscle car.
