| “1968 Olds 442 convertible . Original 4 speed car that at some point in it's life was converted to a TH350 automatic transmission. The 400 ci engine has been rebuilt and an original numbers carburetor installed. A new OEM style aluminum radiator was installed last August. The front suspension is rebuilt and aligned and power disc brakes were added. New Goodrich tires and Hurst aluminum wheels. The drivers floor board has a screwed in patched and small area of rust is starting to show under the paint on lower fender, otherwise a very solid and rust free car. Pics of the floor boards from when I replaced the carpet are included in the ad. The top does have a rip in it but works well. The car isn't perfect but with paint and a top it would be a VERY nice car. I didn't ever intend to sell but another vehicle has caught my eye (and yes 'squirrel' applies when it comes to me and cars) so it must go.” |

1968 Olds 442 convertible. This is an original 442 convertible, not a clone, that was originally a 4 speed car that at some point in it"s life was converted to a TH350 automatic transmission with an automatic console from an earlier 442. It runs and drives fantastic and 1 of only about 1500 built that year. The 400 ci engine is from a 1965 442 and has been rebuilt and a rebuilt original numbers correct carburetor installed. The OEM style black aluminum radiator is new. The front suspension is rebuilt and power disc brakes were added. The Goodrich tires and Hurst aluminum wheels are also new with very little miles on them. I still have the original wheels as well if you want them. The interior is very nice with newly redone seats, door panels, carpet, quarter trim, etc. I also have a good replacement radio bezel for the broken one in the car. The drivers floor board has a screwed in patch and small area of rust is showing under the 20+ year old paint on lower fender, otherwise it is a very solid and rust free. Pics of the floor boards from when I replaced the carpet are included in the ad as well as pics from under the car. The power convertible top works well but the top does have a rip in it. I hardly ever drive the car with the top up so I never took time to address it. The car is very dusty in the pictures from sitting in my shop but gets a LOT of thumbs ups. The previous owner owned it for 40 years before me and it mostly sat in his garage where it got the paint chips, scratches, etc while being stored. The car is not perfect but with paint and a top would be a VERY nice car. I checked the body with a paint meter and there appears to be little or no body work. The left tail light lens is broken but are available new. I"ve tried to describe the car as accurately as possible and hope I didn"t miss anything but I encourage you to come inspect and drive it yourself. I didn"t intend to sell her but another vehicle has caught my eye (and yes "squirrel" very much applies when it comes to me and cars) so it"s time go. Please don"t hesitate to ask questions and I encourage anyone to come have a look and go for a drive if interested in buying it. I will gladly assist by driving the car locally to a shipper arranged by you but highly encourage local pickup.
