Vehicle description
MGB Convertible 1968 must be sold as I am returning to the UK. Chance to own one of these increasingly difficult to find pre 1970 British classics - and particularly one so original. Many hours spent to restore this car using quality parts supplied by Rimmer Bros. Seeking a good home to look after this vehicle by someone who understands MGs - hence low starting and buy it now price. Complete bodywork restoration throughout with floors repaired as necessary, new inner and outer sills, wing repairs. All metalwork sealed and protected against rust. Front suspension removed and renovated with all new rubber bushes, bump stops, steering bushes, seals etc. New brake pipes and hoses throughout, pads and shoes. Rear suspension renovated. New silencer. All new ignition electrics, leads, plugs. Dash and windscreen off reseat in had wearing enamel. Doors very solid with no rot at base. Seat rubbers replaced. New soundproofing and new carpets. New interior panels throughout. This car was dry stored for many years and was already structurally surprisingly sound. Engine starts and runs well with good oil pressure, stable tick over and smooth transmission. All ancillaries have been removed, serviced and replaced. Straight through exhaust with one silencer makes for a throaty sound. No oil leaks. Results in a very well presented and all original car with very tidy interior and engine bay. Entirely original throughout, including radio, Not tested - will need to be collected with trailer. So everything major is complete on this car, but there is still much potential in it to increase its value. I would replace the hood. It was good quality, and is usable, with zip out rear window, but has been patched and has a couple of what look like mouse holes. The car is still on 175SR14s that although drivable for testing, will need replacing. As ever, the carbs would benefit from some further balancing once the car has been driven on the highway. Chrome is fine for a car this age but again if you were wanting it to be perfect, re-caroming in due course could improve the car. Please serious bidders only. These are cars that are over 50 years old and can be either every day vehicles or weekend cars - but either way they always need time spent on them. But they then make for a hugely enjoyable drive. The car will come with a host of spares (can’t take them back with me) including spare lights, lots of chrome etc. You’re also welcome to take the contents of the garage (oils, fluids, paint etc).
