1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 390 Big Block
I"ve owned this car almost 10 years, but it"s time to let it go. It runs, drives and stops well.
It has the XR7 package, which includes tachometer, amp, temp, fuel and oil pressure gauges. It also has the overhead console. All gauges work correctly, except dash temp gauge (because it isn"t connected at the intake manifold). It is an X code (2 barrel carb) car, but the intake manifold has been replaced to upgrade to a 4 barrel carb. An aftermarket temp gauge is mounted under the dash which works correctly.
I had the car repainted 8 years ago, including a new vinyl top and headliner inside. It all looks vey good, but has some chips in the paint. Check the pics!
The interior is good, but the oem green carpet in the drivers footwell needs replaced. The dash and overhead console are in good shape. The 4 toggle switches in the center of the dash and corresponding lights all work correctly, the clock even works!
I didn"t get the Cougar out much last year, no car shows, but regular short jaunts! I noticed a leak in the power steering pump and replaced it and the fuel pump last fall and took care of the problem! Mechanically all else is in good shape also!
The power steering and power brakes all work correctly. I replaced the tires 6 - 7 years ago, still almost as new!
The 390 Big Block has an aftermarket Mallory ignition and runs well!
I believe odometer has rolled over!
