Vehicle description
1968 Ford Mustang. 289 CI V8, 2 barrel, ( I believe it has a 302 air cleaner on it). Car runs, drives, and stops good, had a slight stumble at times when giving it gas but last time I had it out, the car drove great. Tires have plenty of tread, power steering, manual drum brakes, brake lines and fuel lines have been recently replaced, one power steering line just replaced. The car was somewhat restored about 20 years ago. It was repainted in it"s original color of Gulfstream Aqua. The paint has not held up well and the car obviously needs paint again. Rear quarter skins were installed back then, the holes for the rear side marker lights were never cut into the skins but other than that, the quarters are great. They were hung straight and they still have no rust at all. Trunk floor and drop offs are rust free, gas tank looks like it was replaced around that time also. The dutchman panel behind the rear window is perfect, no rust. The rockers, lower fenders, shock towers, firewall, floors and frame rails are all solid, basically no rust at all. The torque boxes have a little bit of rot. The only problem area on the body is a small area on the roof. The car had a black vinyl top until the previous owner peeled it off to see if there was any rust areas. There is an area above the windshield on the passenger side that has rust and needs a patch. There is also a dent on the driver side of the roof that needs to be pulled. We stripped away the glue and any remnants of the vinyl top so potential buyers can clearly see any damage to the roof and what repairs are needed. The car does not need a full roof skin. The passenger door has an area of some obvious bondo and bodywork. A complete passenger door is included with the car. The aqua interior is in very good condition. The carpet shows some wear but the seats, dash and steering column are in good shape. The headliner is almost perfect. There is a tear in the bottom of the driver"s seat but new TMI buckets seat covers are included. The original seat covers are included also. Gauges all work, lights, horn, wipers and heat all work. The foot pump for the windshield wipers even activates the wipers still. The radio and AC are the only things that do not work. The engine is a 289 which is correct for this car due to the fifth letter of the VIN being "C". It looks like the AC compressor was replaced several years ago although the AC does not currently work. The rest of the engine compartment looks very original. The transmission shifts smooth and the rear differential is good. The brakes had been redone several years ago and several brake lines were replaced at that time. The drum brakes work but the pedal is a little low. This is a 52 year old car that needs a restoration. There is no warranty or guarantee of any kind. This car is a very solid project that can be driven and enjoyed now while it"s being worked on. Great color combo of Gulfstream Aqua, black vinyl top and aqua interior plus the 289 option make this a great restoration candidate. The car was built at the Metuchen, NJ assembly plant has I believe it has spent it"s whole life in NJ. The car is currently insured and can be test driven any time. Clean NJ title in hand. $500 non refundable deposit via paypal is due within 24 hours of auction end. Car can be stored in my garage while shipping is arranged. Many more pictures available upon request. This is a no reserve auction.
