Vehicle description
Selling a rare 1968 Chevy C10 2wd Step Side. This truck is a real deal US Air Force vehicle from Missouri. The truck was then used as a Civil Defense vehicle and ended up in Waggoner IL and used by the Village Of Waggoner to spray for Mosquitos and maintenance around town. It has been stored inside for years and only used as needed. This was not a truck that was used every day and as the village has a population of 253. The Village of Waggoner has a Clean and Clear Illinois Title in their name so you won"t have any title issues like some do with ex military vehicles. This truck has all the right patina and Air Force history. You can find EX Army trucks everyday but I have researched this truck for a few years and have not found any other Air Force truck like this. This may be a once in a lifetime chance to buy a classic like this.
About the condition: The paint is original and the Air Force sprayed some paint over the letters when it went out of their service. I rubbed a little thinner and that spray paint comes off. If a person wants to clean more off to get more of the lettering to come out it will not take that much work. The numbers on the tailgate were an inventory number and that same number in on the original "Dog Tag" Key chain. Also, each door and the roof has a large 3 one them for identification from the air. The body is really solid with the only rust is in the floor pan brace on the inside. Easy fix right there. The bottom of the doors are not swelling. The underside looks great for a 1968. Look at the pics for the condition of the body and ask questions. The truck runs good and was driven to me by the Mayor. I have to use starting fluid to get it to fire up because of old gas but once it fires it runs good. It has a exhaust leak that will need fixed. The brakes work but are a little sketch. If you stab the brakes it pulls to the right so I would recommend a brake overhaul when you buy it. The tires have tons of tread but show some cracking due to age. The left front hub car is missing but the Mayors wife thinks she knows where it is at. The tailgate needs a little work on the right side. If you want to see it in person the truck is at Dave"s Collision Shop in Raymond, IL.
About the Auction: This truck is still owned by the Village of Waggoner and they asked me to sell it for them. It is going to be a 7 day auction and it will not be ended early for any reason. If the auction does not meet the reserve then the Village of Waggoner may consider the highest bid or decide to run the auction again. That will be decided at their next board meeting after the auction ends. If the auction meets the reserve then I have everything to go forward and finish the sale. If you buy it the truck must be paid in full in 10 days after the end of the auction or you forfeit any right to it. Your deposit will not be refunded for any reason if you do not follow through. If you pay in full but cannot pick it up right away we can make arrangements to store it for 2 months at no charge as long as it is paid in full. For those of you that do not know how works, it is a legal binding auction. Once the auction meets the reserve and it ends you legally binding to follow through with the purchase. If you need to ask you wife or you mom for the money then do so before you bid. You can wire your payment or bring cash. A bank cashiers check is sketchy these days so I"m going to so no the that. If you pay by PayPal, Credit Card or any other service then you must pay all the fees involved with those transactions.
