Vehicle description
1968 AMC AMX – Very Unique - Limitedproduction 2-seater - VIN #A8C397X348054
Metallic blue paint with truefire flames, High back leather buckets, Power brakes, AC, JVC CD player,Audiobahn speakers. Dash plate # 05300. Third owner, originally a California car, always garaged no rust that I am aware of. This has the original Modified 390with Automatic transmission. The Engine was stroked to 401 cu. In. Approx 9:1compression, forged crank, forged pistons, forged rods. Edelbrock, RPMPerformer heads, cam, air gap intake, Holley 4150 double pumper carb modifiedby Pro-Systems for blow-through (carb just refreshed). Pro-Charger F1 underhood super charger set up for approx. 16 PSI. I have an optional belt andpulley to run at approx 25 PSI. The crank pulley and super charger brackets werecustom made and this is one of very few AMX"s I know of featuring aPro-Charger.
It has a brand new Aeromotive A1000 electric fuel pump, new battery, newsolenoid, Griffin double core radiator with 3 electric fans. Edlebrock valvecovers and roller style rockers. ARP high strength head bolts. Powermaster hightorque starter, Mallory HyFire VI computerized ignition system, Mallory Unilitedistributor, ProMaster coil, Grant steering wheel. Original wheel has cracksbut goes with the car. Replaced electric wiper motor, but I never drive it inthe rain. American Racing rims, tires in great shape. 2.86 rear gear.
The car hasbeen cruised, not drag raced at the track. Speedometer shows around 53000 miles, which is about 5K more than when I bought it, and reworked the engine.
The paintand car are in good shape. It is not a museum piece, but a nice unique car thatgets a lot of attention every time I cruise it.You can view a walk around videoat the link below. I will be adding a better video this weekend.
