Vehicle description
I purchased this car for a toy and something to work on as time permitted. The car was in California and then Texas. I spent $12,000 for it with shipping. It was a 390, automatic, PS, PB, Go pack, air, tilt car. It ran, though poorly. It had a knock and surged when running. I pulled the plugs and found then to have no gap. The decision was made to pull the engine. Turns out the engine was not a 390 (I figured something was wrong because it had later model exhaust manifolds) as well as having 7 broken pistons - how it ran is beyond me. So I have made the call to sell the car complete less engine. It is the cleanest AMX I have drug home - has one small rust hole and other than some surface rust in the trunk, she is super clean as far as rust concerns. The car is Laurel green with black interior. When I had it running I ran through all the electricals and the only item not working was the gas gauge - perhaps there is just no gas in it. Lights, turn signals, wipers, even the factory tach functioned. The horn is on a separate button. The seats are not original and the headliner is gone - items way cheaper to repair/replace than dealing with a car with rust issues. If you purchase the car, I will ship the tranny and some misc. parts separate on a pallet (in the 48 states). The front bumper is nice, the rear has some rusting. All the glass is good and is tinted glass. The transmission is a 727 torqueflite/convertor. Excellent grill but has been painted and is flaking, but not broken. What also sets this car apart is the fact it is an early built AMX - #00694 and the tag is located on the glove box and not the speaker cover as most AMX"s came with - a sure sign of an early car and well optioned also. I just do not have the time to do an engine and install, etc. The only items missing are the engine/flywheel. The dual exhaust is set up for the later manifolds and not the original "log" style so a minor fix will be needed should you put an original engine back in it. You will not be disappointed at how clean this car is. Paint will even buff out but has had a repaint and there is some flaking here and there along with a few surface bubbles. I will assist in loading when being picked up. Feel free to contact me at / name is Dean. Thank you!
NOTE: I have had a couple of offers - I am not considering any offers and will keep the car should it not sell at the asking price. Thank you.
