Vehicle description
I’m reportedly the second owner, I purchased it from a couple who resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Reportedly it was purchased by there grandparents when new and had been passed down to them. They claimed the mileage on the odometer is correct at 44,236. * The original engine was replaced on 7/26/2005 with a 1600cc single port new case rebuilt along with a new clutch kit and muffler kit and new carb 34PICT at 42,713 miles at a local repair shop in Albuquerque (I have all paperwork $2,037.69). * On 7/16/2009 they replaced the rear shocks and repaired some vacuum lines that were leaking and replaced the wipers at the same auto repair shop (I have receipts $203.17). * On 1/5/2018 they replaced all the brakes and wheel cylinders and master cylinder and replaced rear axle seal. They used the same mechanic shop (I have receipts $1,629.35). * After purchasing the car I had the valves checked in Albuquerque which checked to be within tolerance and I drove the car back home to Oregon (1400 miles) without any problems. * On 11/20/20 I took it to my local mechanic shop and had them check and readjust the valves along with an oil change (I have receipts $168.00).
* On 12/2/20 I purchased a new EMPI Carburetor 30 PICT-1 and a new Single Port Intake Manifold ($216.93). * On 12/10/20 I took it back to my local mechanic and had them install a new carb and Single Port Intake and new fan belt I had purchased ($241.00) * In 12/2020 I replaced the Door Seals, Replaced all the carpet and rubber matting underneath, Replaced all the door panels and rear panels, replaced the front and rear seat covers (I have all receipts) * When I purchased the car it had some original steel Lemmerz Sprint Star Chrome Wheels which are very collectible today! An OEM wheel supplier to VW (4Jx15). I have 3 of the original Sprinter Center caps but went ahead and purchased 4 new aftermarket BBT GT Sprinter Caps which are on the original wheels. The seller said there grandparents had them put on back in the late 60s to early 70s. I took to the wheels to a local wheel polishing shop and had them all polished (over $300.00 cost). They are mounted on some 165R15 tires by Signet SB-802s which still look new (I believe the tires are dated 2017 but will have to recheck the codes). * The car starts up almost instantly with little or no throttle and runs out excellent through all the gears. Will cruise easily at 65-70 mph all day long. Shift excellent through all gears up and down no grinding. * There is little to no rust on the car, mostly attributed to it being in New Mexico most all of its life. * I’ve noticed a little oil drip after driving it say 50 miles or so which looks like its coming from the trans seal. * The original radio (Sapphire V) works great. * No reported or signs of any previous collisions anywhere on the body. I believe the car has had one repaint since it was new. * I have the original Owners Manual and the original jack and some of the original tools that came with it when it was sold new. It has a good spare/tire. * All the lights and horn and wipers and signals work fine on the car. I wouldn’t hesitate to jump in it and go across country. * I have a video of it starting and running which I will try to add. This is an excellent example of a 1967 Volkswagen you can treasure for years. Other potential questions: How original is the vehicle? Are there any modifications from stock?
