Vehicle description
1967 FJ40 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER
It"s a real eye-catcher and fun to drive! The body is clean and had an off body rebuild approximately 8,000 miles ago, by a previous owner. The list of everything that was replaced and what with is accessible if you want it, but are too numerous for me to list here. I"m going to just mention some highlights:
I"m told there was minimal rust to begin with, which was taken care of by replacing sheet metal with MIG welds and that there are no cover ups; other than slight signs of it near bolts and such, where my previous one rusted, I have not seen any signs to the contrary in the couple of years I"ve owned it.
The engine has been replaced with a rebuilt 1970 454 Chevy V8 and Muncie SM 465 4 speed transmission and they have proven super reliable. My plan was to buy it since the body is so nice, then switch the engine and tranny back to the original since I am a "purist" and cringed at "cross-breeding"; however, after a few outings I had to admit the extra power up the mountain and being able to crank it up easily to 65-70 pass another car on the flats, has been nice! That being said, she is geared low, so I"d normally not do more than 55 or 60 on the open road; however, that isn"t any slower than my former "69 with the straight 6. She is suuuper happy in granny gear crawling over stuff on steep and long hills all day long!
Cooling has not been an issue and it has an automatic electric cooling system that will cycle on and off as needed, even after you"ve parked and the key"s out until she"s found her happy spot.
Power steering and power brakes make it super easy to drive and maneuver. Ranch 2 1/2" lift springs with heavy duty shackles. Drive shafts were custom built by Drive Train Specialties in Denver.
Luxury items that are included: Pioneer CD stereo with Bose speakers, sun-roof, Uniden CB radio. Seats are not original; the front ones are leather, the rear is a folding fabric bench. Underneath the rear seat is a 32 gallon reserve fuel cell. Beautiful dark grey headliner. Custom aluminum dash. Custom 7 point Chromoly tubing roll cage.
* I just replaced the turn signals with nice round ones that are more similar to that year, as the ones on it when I got her were plastic OEM ones. I have to yet to get them wired. . I do have the wiring map for the "67 but due to work haven"t had time to deal with it. Also, when I got her she had some huge H2 chrome side-views which I didn"t like and I replaced with the shown black ones with plans to seek out originals; doors were just professionally repaired (sheet metal fabrication and paint to match body exactly) because the holes from those mirrors were hideous. Gas can mount is included, but I"m keeping the gas can; my son gave it to me.
VIN is correct/verified; there is no vehicle report due to the age and because it is only 9 digits.
If you are looking for a fun, beautiful and solid working FJ40, then this is for you!
Please feel free to message me if you have any questions, and I will give you my phone number if you want to chat, or if you would like me to email you a full list of everything that was updated.
This asking price is less than what I have in her, but I need a new daily driver and I live a ways from the nearest town.
$1,000.00 deposit required within 24 hours; full price/pick up within 7 days unless otherwise arranged with me.
Thanks! Cheryl
