Unique "Barn Find" 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado
This is a unique "barn find" when it comes to a 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado that is un-restored, seemingly untouched, basically complete and really solid. Please read our complete description as we will try to accurately present this car with no intentional misrepresentations. Here is the information on the car:
Origin Of The Vehicle: I live in the northwest corner of the state of Alabama and this car was purchased from a gentleman who lives about 60 miles from me. The information provided to me at the time of the sale indicated the owner prior to us was also from the north Alabama region and it was believed that the car had spent its entire life in Alabama. The previous owner is deceased and no records are available to verify the past history of the vehicle.
Authenticity: There are several significant signs that verify the accuracy of the car and how pure it has remained since the date of its production. The patina on the car is all period correct. The fabric on the seat covers, the grunge in the engine compartment, the appearance of the trunk compartment, portions of the original paint, etc. all point to a car that is basically unmolested.
Option List: This car was truly loaded with an excellent list of very desirable options. When Oldsmobile built this luxury sports car all of the appropriate "goodies" were added like power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, power windows, etc.
Condition: It is not our intention to present this car as a running, driving car that is a daily driver. The car has been in storage a long time and no attempt has been made to even start the engine or drive the car. In my humble opinion this car needs (and greatly deserves) a full restoration. It is such an amazing opportunity to have an authentic car from this era that it would be a shame to NOT restore this car. It truly deserves to live on as a classic car from the sixties.
Overall the body is straight and in nice average condition. We have not been able to locate any significant amount of rust damage on the car. The doors, hood and trunk all open and shut well and they have very well defined body lines. There are some places on the exterior where the original paint even appears to still be present.
As you can tell from the photos the interior appears to be all original but it will need to be completely refurbished. The seat covers, headliner, carpet, door panels, etc. will all need to be replaced. Age, time and sunlight have taken their toll on the fabric.
Beautiful Colors: The trim tag on the firewall reveals that this car left the factory with the X-6 Garnet Red paint code and the firewall Trim Plate states that the interior color was red. What a stunning combination. Picture a lovely red on red car. Wow!
Drive Train Components: Beginning in 1966 the Toronado car was developed as a pioneer in front wheel drive cars. This car features the 425 engine along with an automatic transmission (and no rear axle).
Mileage: The "Item Specifics" information box shows that the mileage on this car is listed as 2,074 which may or may not be the actual mileage if the odometer has rolled over. That is the stated mileage on this listing and should not be construed as a statement of actual mileage on the car.
Warranty: There is NO warranty implied or stated with this car. It is being sold "As is/Where Is" only. We have made every attempt to accurately describe the vehicle and welcome any prospective buyer to personally inspect the vehicle prior to the sale. We have no way to warrant the engine, body condition, damage, etc. other than to provide great details in this listing.
Transfer Of Ownership: According to the License Commissioner the state of Alabama was not a title state prior to 1975 and no vehicle manufactured prior to that year had official state titles. This vehicle does not have a title and will be sold to the purchaser with a General Bill Of Sale only. No title for this car has ever existed and none can be produced per the governing laws of this state.
Shipping Services: This vehicle is being offered as a local pick up only. Any shipping services used for the delivery of the vehicle must be arranged at the buyer"s discretion and expense. I have access to a retired automobile transporter with trailer who will deliver within 500 miles of this location at $2.35 per mile (one way) with delivery payment in advance.
Questions & Bidding: We welcome the opportunity to share additional information with you regarding this car. It is an exciting opportunity to preserve a part of history. Health and age are the only things that prevent me from completing the restoration of this fine automobile. It needs to be in the possession of someone who can give it what it deserves.
