Vehicle description

THE LAST BUYER RENEGED AND WOULD NOT PAY THROUGH EBAY. Single Family Owner – My father purchased this Ford Mustang2 + 2 Fastback with original 289 cubic inch and 3-speed manual transmission. The car was purchased from Ken Grantham Fordin Irving, Texas on May 15, 1967 (See original owner card photo). I rode home in the back seat. I took over driving it from around 1978. It’s never been in a serious collision. The frame is straight. Just minor body damage on the passenger sideheadlight, the rear bumper and panel below bumper when a motorcycle ran intoit. The original 289 engine is in thepassenger seat. Not optimal but I’ve hadthe car stored for the past 20 years (you can see from the dust) and its moveda couple of times after I stopped daily driving it. Each storage unit was bone dry (no additionalrust – see photos) and most importantly no insects or critters (that’s Texanfor vermin). I’ve got several boxes ofextra parts but the passenger seat was the only rational place to store theengine for the long haul. The frame isstraight and the body has only minor damage ((driver side rear quarter panel) asshown in the photos. The replacementengine is a rebuilt 302 and the valves are likely a bit burnt since it wassmoking a slight amount when I quit driving it (1995). The gas tank has a leak so I removed it,emptied the tank and wrapped it in garbage bags. The metal fuel line is clogged but a good aircompressor should clean it out. It currently has a 4-speed manual transmission that Iinstalled during the 1980s. It is a FordFairlane transmission. I still have theoriginal 3-speed manual transmission (see photo) and most of the extraparts. For example, the door between thetrunk and the back seat, the original Ford Mustang under-dash air conditioner(not found on the Marti report – not sure about that), the emergency brakecable and some others. Over the years, Ibought a 1968 Mustang coupe to strip for parts. All of those are shown in the pictures and all the extra parts come withthe car. I estimate that you could haveit running for $5,000 or less, but no promises. By running, I mean able to go from point A to point B during arestoration. The front-end suspensionwas completely rebuilt back in the 1980s at the Irving High School autoshop. They did a great job. The wiring harness was replaced in 1979 whenI took over ownership as it had burned up when the battery shorted out. My father and I were driving it and didn’thave tools to unhook from the battery. I tried to take as many photos of the body as possible toshow that the lines are straight. Thereare no surprises underneath the car either. When the engine was replaced (I did that myself), I installed Hedmanheaders and glass pack mufflers. It has thatMustang 289 sweet rumble when it’s running. I’m selling because I have a better use for the money and after storingit for almost 30 years, I’ve given up on doing the restoration myself. The tape marks are from the covering I usedduring moving across country a couple of times. This should be a straight forward restoration for anyone who’sgot the know-how, the time and the money to do so. It’s a great car to drive and I drove itthrough high school, college, graduate school and into my first workyears. I’ll be candid that it has a reservethat is fair but set to reflect the condition of the car. Happy to answer any questions as I’m the onlydriver since 1978. My father is stillalive if you have any original purchase questions.
