Most people just think of the Cougar as Mercury’s version of the Mustang, but the truth is that they are VERY different cars with different missions. With a unique body and interior, the Cougar is instantly recognizable, and nice ones like this 1967 coupe are a pleasure to own and drive. The Cougar received the 1967 Motor Trend Car of the Year award, becoming the first (and only) Mercury-brand vehicle to do so. Walking around this ’67 you should notice the gloss red paint, hidden headlights, Cougar badging, and chrome trim pieces. The paint remains in excellent condition, freshly repainted and it’s a rust-free car. The chrome is nice and appears to be original. The Cougar offered unique lighting, with folding headlights up front (vacuum operated with LED lights) and sequential turn signals in the rear and they all are in working order and look awesome. The interior flows well with the paint theme and sports black vinyl bucket seats with seat belts, black carpeting, new 6x9 speakers in the back, and a Retrosound AM/FM radio. The interior is in extremely great shape all-around. The vast dashboard features round gauges with delicate markings and needles, reminiscent of the Smiths gauges found in British sports cars and the Shelby Cobra. Especially cool are the toggle switches for interior lighting and the very aircraft-like levers for the ventilation controls to the driver"s left. Lift the Cougar"s unique hood and you"ll find a 289 cubic inch V8 (freshly rebuilt) with a C4 automatic transmission (freshly rebuilt). It"s had a nice makeover, with the usual Ford Blue paint on the engine itself, plus FiTech fuel injection complete with intake fuel pump. Power steering and factory power drum brakes are suitable to the big Cat and the brand-new exhaust system sounds very healthy. It"s backed by a C4 3-speed automatic transmission, and one look around underneath will convince you that this is one heck of a nice original car! This also had a complete front-end overhaul, including compensation value and upgraded to a 5/16” nut. This Cougar runs on 18’ US Mags Ramblers with Nitto tires 225/40ZR18 on front and 255/40ZR18 on the rear. Do not let this 1967 Mercury Cougar make it into someone else"s collection, call us today at 480-256-1459. And be sure to check out for 100+ HD photos and a link to our YouTube page to a full walkaround and driving video.
