Vehicle description
1967 Lotus Elan S3 SE/SS For Sale 1967 Lotus Elan S3 Special Equipment / Super Safety Drop Head Coupe (45/7603) for sale. Car went thru a body and paint restoration in a Eastern fiberglass restoration shop about 20 years ago. The body is still in great condition and the paint looks like it was sprayed yesterday. Both front and rear bumpers have recently been re-sprayed the original lotus silver. The Lotus replacement frame is in good condition. The twin cam engine (original to the car) has been rebuilt and upgraded to Sprint specifications. Recent compression test shows 200psi across all cylinders. Pulls very strongly to its redline. Webers are in good condition with stock lotus air ducting in place. Radiator re-cored and all cooling hoses replaced. Exhaust consists of Dave Bean header and a stainless steel lotus s3 muffler. Car shows 47,000 miles which are believed to be original, as car was stored for a number of years prior to the restoration. The front end and rear suspension has been rebuilt with all new bushings and bearings. Springs and shocks have been replaced. Brakes rebuilt, calipers sleeved with stainless steel, pistons also stainless. Entire handbrake system has been rebuilt. U joints on main drive shaft replaced and rebuilt rear end has been upgraded with solid drive shafts. Panasport wheels are used with 165 65R13 tires. The four speed close ratio transmission works well, with the usual “snick” as you shift into the gears. The clutch assembly has been replaced as well as the hydraulic lines and the slave unit. The interior is in very good condition. Carpeting replaced, Seats recovered, original signed steering wheel, factory seatbelts, newer convertible top, new dash incorporating additional gauges with glove box. All gauges work well with exception of Tachometer, which works off and on as it decides, as does drivers window switch. Car has been maintained by local Northwest vintage Lotus restorer and is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. Yearly servicing has just been completed. Car is very clean and has won best in class at three Northwest All British Field Meets (ABFM) and a number of “best foreign” in local shows. Owner is member of Evergreen Lotus Car Club (ELCC). Car comes with Owner’s Manual, Elan workshop manual, custom car cover, mounted fire extinguisher and knock off wheel wrench. Being sold as part of collection reduction.
