I purchased this vehicle in Virginia and had it shipped down to Miami a couple years back. The last owner had passed away. I believe he was the 2nd or 3rd owner. The original factory color of this vehicle is black. It was painted red, I’m guessing sometime in the 1980’s and then painted to the current powder blue, I’m guessing sometime in the the 2000’s but the original color is black as referenced by the VIN. I would love to bring it back to its rightful color but I haven’t the time. The car itself has been great to me. Mechanically it runs great. A very reliable daily driver. Steering and shifting nice and smooth. Never over-heats, even in bumper-to-bumper traffic. No leaks. Body is nice and solid. No significant rust, although there are chips in the paint throughout the car, pictures wont pick them up from afar. The main blemishes is a linear scrape on the rear passenger quarter panel (ref. pics) and a silver dollar sized paint chip on the front passenger side, near the headlights. Aside those obvious imperfections, Paint looks nice to me; I would give it a 7 out of 10. All Chrome all there, solid and in good shape with the exception of a couple of bends and dents. Considering the complexity of the electrical system Im surprised everything works as well it does. Power Seats, Power Windows, Power Antenna motor ALL work. The front two windows function but are sluggish. Convertible top operates as it should. Once in a blue moon the “Top erection cycle” freezes and I have to jiggle the relay plug to get it going. Air Condition blows strong but not cold. My mechanic cannot pinpoint the location of the coolant leak. AM/FM radio works. Dash lights, trunk lights and courtesy lights all work. Even the dash clock works. Speedometer, odometer and gas gauge all functioning. I’m certain the leather seats are not original. They are worn but solid. Carpet also in good shape along with all the door panels and rocker panels. There is a piece under the armrest that is missing on the driver side back door panel. I wouldn’t consider this continental to be in mint condition but you can tell it was and is currently being well taken care of. I would rate it as a B-, due to typical ware that is consistent with its age. A professional paint job and fresh interior would definitely bring this car to the net level.
The BAD Chips and scratches in paint. Front windows function but are sluggish. A/C does not cool.
NOTE: This is a luxury vehicle with a very complicated electrical system/Convertible top system for its time. Any seasoned classic car owner knows components are bound to fail, especially with complexity this substantial.
