Vehicle description
1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 OTS (E-Type) Competition Ready Show Car or Weekend Driver
Here for the discerning buyer, a 1967 E-Type Series 1, 4.2L OTS in original color scheme (carmen red exterior, black interior/top) and matching numbers as when driven off the assembly line in March ’67 - evidenced by the JHTC certificate. Fresh rotisserie restoration was completed from full disassembly: Monocoque body was brought down to bare metal and the engine was painstakingly rebuilt to factory specification. A few tasteful upgrades have been incorporated that look similar to OEM but improve reliability and performance (detailed below).
All work was performed by a renowned restoration specialist that has focused on classic Jaguars for over 30 years and the work has been independently inspected by a seasoned Jaguar mechanic/concours judge to ensure quality and mechanical integrity. Engine has been through the initial break-in period and carbs have been re-adjusted and values seated. Vehicle has been appraised for insurance purposes at $285,000. All information is documented and available to share with serious buyers. THE QUALITY OF THIS RESTORATION PROJECTS BETTER THAN PHOTOS CAN SHOW AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED WHEN COMPARING TO OTHER RECENT E-TYPE RESTORATIONS.
The factory configuration of the ’67 XKE 4.2L powertrain has a 4,235cc engine displacement bored to 92.07mm, stocked with Triple SU carburetors and mated to an all-synchromesh four-speed gearbox producing 265hp at the wheels. A whopping 283 lbs.-ft of torque resulted in one of the quickest cars of its day and is still very relevant when compared to many modern-day performance cars. All E-Types featured independent coil spring rear suspension with torsion bar front ends and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.
Upgrades: Interior & Body: Dash lighting updated to LED bulbs for improved visibility. Dynamat sound deadener and insulation throughout cabin interior and trunk interior. Wool carpeting throughout interior. Bottom surface of body and wheel wells coated with gravel guard before painting for improved corrosion protection, rock chips and insulation benefits. Original steering wheel is available and original Jaguar jack included.
Engine/Electrical: Performance crankshaft damper. Electrical system upgrades include electronic ignition for improved performance and an alternator that looks original but has more power and better reliability. An improved gear reduction starter motor provides easier starting and better reliability. Stainless steel exhaust system and fittings with Ceramic coated exhaust manifolds.
Cooling System/Fuel System/Brakes: Alloy Radiator w/integral electric cooling fan with EVANS waterless coolant. Improved water pump, stainless-steel cooling system header tank, heater core and heater valve. New ethanol compatible fuel tank, pump, fittings, lines and seals. Center-lace tubeless wire wheels approx. 1 inch wider with a slightly larger tire and improved Sport Suspension bushings. Brake components fitted with enlarged Wildwood front brake calipers and pads. Control arms, brackets and fasteners have all been re-plated using the correct clear cadmium or black oxide finish for an authentic appearance.
By all accounts, this is an investment-quality car.
