Vehicle description
1967 Ford Mustang Convertible 289 (C Code). This vehicle sat in a barn for approximately 20 years and has not been touched. There is evidence that animals were living in the engine bay and trunk over time. The body and bones of the vehicle look good; there is some rust on the door and other common Mustang areas. Mechanic advises that the undercarriage looks good but there is minor surface rust and a sand and respray underneath is necessary to prevent rust rot (NOTE: I have not seen the underside on a lift and am simply repeating what the mechanic stated). Exterior chrome is in decent shape. Most decals are there. Paint does NOT appear to be original, but I cannot confirm.
Mechanic inspected vehicle and indicated that the following needs to be done at a minimum: replace brake lines (rusted); brakes should be serviced (not sure if they need to be replaced); drain and fill gas tank; new starter; new radiator; new battery; drain and fill all fluids; new tires. Note that the car has NOT been started or driven in over 20 years. I do not know the condition of the engine or transmission. The trunk was opened and did not latch closed; lock was frozen and a little WD40 spray remedied it). Tires are flat. Three of the four tires can hold air for a day or so; one tire will not hold air. Steel wheels should also be changed.
Interior looks to be in great shape. Seats, door panels and trim appear to be in great shape. Some of the chrome has pitting on the interior. The convertible top is in great shape as well. I did NOT open the convertible top but have no reason to believe there is an issue with it. The car has a musty smell and the interior is in desperate need of a thorough steam clean and detail. The inside of the convertible top has mildew on it, which looks like it will clean off. The vehicle needs to be cleaned. This is the result of sitting in a barn for approximately 20 years.
The vehicle is being sold AS-IS WHERE-IS with all known and unknown faults. Seller does not have much information about the vehicle"s history, however, it was owned by Seller"s family members for over 20 years. Buyer will get a clean Maryland title. The vehicle has power steering that looks original.
The vehicle should be thought of as requiring a fair amount of restoration. Exactly how much is not exactly known. I had a mechanic go through it to provide an idea of what was needed immediately but make no representations or warranties whatsoever. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION and the initial starting price reflects the unknown condition of the vehicle. This vehicle should be towed by Buyer.
This vehicle is being listed locally as well and Seller reserves the right to terminate the auction early.
