Vehicle description

1967 RED FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE
FIRST GENERATION PONY: This Mustang runs like the equine for which it is named. It is just begging to be shown off and is made to drive. It has a sporty and racy appeal that says let’s get ready to rumble. The iconic look of this legend is unmistakable due to the first generation grille with the recessed headlamps flanking the galloping pony logo. When you settle down in that driver’s seat the first thing you see is the air craft inspired dash and gauge cluster. Inspiration for this cluster arrangement is said to have come from another Mustang, the P-51 Mustang fighter of WWII. So grab hold of this three spoke steering wheel and let’s go for a ride. Filled with inspiration, convenience and reliability don’t miss this opportunity to own a true great American classic.
THE 1967 MUSTANG REDESIGN: The Mustang as is ranks up there as one of the most iconic cars of all time. When Lee Iacocca first designed the 1965 Mustang it was much smaller. Even though Ford was achieving massive sales goals with the early first generation mustang edition, he was told by Ford himself for the 1967 restyling to increase the size of the back seat room and engine compartment to make it even bigger. He was slightly dismayed by the idea but it was to integrate more comfort and a larger engine so that the Mustang was not only a family sports car but now was better able to compete in the “Muscle” car wars.
THIS PARTICULAR CAR"S HISTORY: This car was originally built on June 29, 1967 at the Ford San Jose California manufacturing plant and then shipped to an Arizona dealership where it was originally bought and lived there for the next 45 years. It has been owned by the same family in the dry Southwest state of Arizona until about 2010. It was at that time that it then switched hands from the original owner to its second owner roughly ten years ago. Since then it has been mainly in storage with some nice summer drives taking in local car shows. This car has absolutely “NO RUST”. A few years back the car went through a total exterior, interior and mechanical inspection (see Restoration Company below) which resulted in a restoration to the tune of nearly $30,000. This car starts, runs and goes down the road very nicely with no leaks or smoke. This is an eye popping car that can be used daily in the right climate or continued to be driven to car shows or only on Sundays.
CAR FEATURES: This “Rust Free” 1967 Mustang Convertible is Candy Apple Red with newly replaced Black interior and a newer replaced power black convertible top. It is believed to have 57,000 original miles. This beautiful color combo of exterior and interior turns heads. Under the hood is a very tidy and clean engine bay powered with a smooth running 289 V8 engine. This baby is finished with a few extras including: power steering, a Champion radiator, aftermarket valve covers, and plenty of chrome dress up parts and air conditioning. It is equipped with a transmission Code: “W” better known as a C-4 Select Shift Automatic Transmission. The Engine code: “C” 289-2V V-8 Engine had the original 2-barrel carburetor has been replaced with a new Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. The paint work is approximately four years old and it still looks fresh. The entire interior (dash, carpeting, seats, door panels, etc.) is new and is in excellent condition and shows very well. The black dash has no cracks. The black power convertible top is in excellent condition as well. Has newer tires and a set of five spoke Mustang solid wheels that really make the paint pop. The original drum brakes have replaced to disk brakes. This Mustang fires right up and has a nice sound. All maintenance has been addressed routinely. This is a Mustang that is set up to drive and enjoy. This pony will give you years and years of reliable performance.
RESTORATION : This Mustang features an impressively straight body and has benefitted from a $30,000 restoration that was performed by Christopher Ingrasse of Mustang Restoration in East Dundee, Illinois. This is a Mustang body and repair shop that specializes in working exclusively on first generation Ford Mustangs.
CURRENT SELLER"S NOTES : According to the previous owner, he bought it from the original owner thereby making me the third owner of this car. I bought the car on August 7, 2015. It was bought for my wife to drive to car shows and on Sundays. The original exterior paint code “6”, was a Pebble Beige Paint, Ford #1631-A, which my wife did not like, so I had it repainted with 1967 candy apple red Code T, Ford #71528. The original interior was: Color Code: “2F” was a Saddle color Vinyl Standard Bucket Seats, this was replaced with Black Bucket seats when the exterior was repainted and the rest of the interior was switched to black. Shortly after purchasing and restoring this vehicle which included switching it from a hard top to a convertible, she lost interest in driving her own car to car shows we attended. Since then the Mustang has remained garage kept and rarely driven. Safety changes made to the car has been: (1) replaced original front drum brakes with new power Disc brakes, (2) added seat belts, (3) replaced radiator with larger radiator to prevent car from overheating.
