Vehicle description
Up for auction is this Riv that I bought off Craig"s List about 6 yrs. ago. It was parked in a barn for about 25 years due to water in the oil according to the son that I bought it from. After we got it home, I drained the oil and changed the filter. Flushed out the gas tank and got it fired up. Sure enouph, the oil showed milky. An older mechanic told me to check behind the water pump for corrosion in the timing chain cover. I changed the cover and that took care of that. The son believed his dad parked the car because he was told it needed head gaskets, so I had new gaskets installed to be sure. The body was very solid and straight. I needed to weld in 3 small patches. One was on the lower left front fender under the lower moulding, one in front of the wheel by the battery and above the left rear fender taillight. We stripped the body down to bare metal and used self-etching primer to start. The original color of Riviera Red was done in base coat/ clear and buffed. New brakes, 4 U-joints replaced, exhaust and shocks. The transmission was up graded with a shift kit. I"m sorry, the star wars air cleaner has been sold since these pics were taken and the stock one has been added. This Riviera runs and drives great. It has been to 2 national Rivy meets and has been very reliable. It doesn"t smoke, but does use a quart of oil about every 500 miles or so. One of the reasons that we like this Riv was the interior. New seat covers front and rear, carpet, headliner and door cards from a deluxe interior were installed .The bucket seats and console are kinda rare in the 2nd generation Riviera. The air cond. has been changed over to 134a and works "ok". The headlights work great along with the windows and seat. The oil pressure and amp gauges do not work. I installed an oil gauge and it has excellent pressure. We also restored a 64 and 65 Riv that we still own and I hate to part with this one. We are running out of space and I want to restore another car this winter. I"ve restored several cars over the years and put them on E-Bay with good results. Please bid with confidence and do us both a favor- only bid if you are serious.
