Vehicle description
1967 Austin FX4D VIN: FX4D10421
This is a right-hand drive London Taxi that was on the road up until very recently, and used as a taxi and wedding car in Hawaii. It is only for sale as the owner is relocating to Europe, and is sold as-is.
It seats 6, there is 1 seat up front next to the driver, and there is a big bench seat in the back which comfortably seats 3, as well as 2 jump-seats and lots of room. There is a glass sliding divider between the front and back.
These engines start with glow plugs, which is usual for diesel engines. There is a heater in the front and a separate heater in the back, as well as a/c for the passengers in the back. There is a decent trunk space-wise. The TAXI light on the roof lights up and looks good.
Top speed is about 60-65 but 50-55 is comfortable. This Taxi has no or very little rust throughout. This is a fun car to drive and a good family car, and is a real head turner. Most parts are available through KIP Motors in Texas and they are very friendly and helpful. There are very few of these in the U.S., and this is the only known vehicle of its type in Hawaii. N.B. The vehicle had a fire in the drivers cab caused by a lit cigarette in 2004 and was an insurance "write-off" on damage versus value. There was no fire damage outside of the drivers compartment. It was thoroughly restored by the current owner in 2005, and has been lovingly maintained. VIN: FX4D10421 Please ask me any questions.
