Vehicle description
About this vehicle This 1966 Volkswagen Beetle is a restomod. The owner has had it for 5+ years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for car shows. Seller"s Notes See description Vehicle Details Classic & Clean mild mod 1966 beetle. Not over the top but not to be underestimated. Below are some details of the build. Hot VWs Magazine feature car January 2015 and has less than 500 miles on it since completion. Not a full blown show car but a very nicely detailed driver. Takes home trophy hardware at most all shows it has gone to including Best VW at hot rod shows, best custom VW at VW shows, best paint and many best in class awards. Exterior: Diamond White PPG acrylic urethane shows as new. Has taken home best paint awards at prior shows. Body lines are nice and retain a stock appearance. Suspension, wheels & brakes: 4-inch narrowed and adjustable '66 ball-joint beam built by King Tuck, which was powdercoated gloss black. Stock trailing arms hold CB 2-1/2-inch drop spindles and CB 5x130 disc brakes. Monroe MA-756 air shocks were used up front, while the rears are MA-785s. Also on the swingaxle rear suspension are notched Allen screw adjustable spring plates and Porsche patterned drum brakes with the snout machined down and 3/4-inch wheel spacers for spring plate clearance and to give it the flush-to-fender look. Both front and rear air ride systems are controlled by an Airkewld Air Management System, where a two-valve air lift switch lets the driver control front and rear pairs independently. The compressor is a Viair 280C and fills a 2-gallon air tank, both mounted behind the rear seat. The system allows 4-1/2 inches of front lift at 100 psi, and 3 inches of rear lift at 120 psi. Wheels are 17x7-inch Fuchs replicas, wrapped with Nankang 185/35R17 tires up front and 205/40R17s out back. Interior: mostly factory, with a two-tone gray upholstery kit from TMI for the seats and door panels. Carpeting is a TMI gray loop, mostly covered by red and black cocoa mats, and gray seat belt featuring the Wolfsburg crest. The only mods on the dash are billet knobs, a Nardi Classic steering wheel in redwood, and air switches. Gene Berg shifter with 12-inch curved shaft and cruiser throttle pedal. billet door handle and window cranks. Interior shows next to no wear. Paint around the radio block off is one of the things that bugs me. It’s got a couple small cracks and thick paint drips. I’d like to install a vintage radio with faceplate which would cover up what I don’t like. Powertrain: Engine is highly detailed, it is a mild 1679cc cruiser, built by Mike at Rewerks it’s got stock crank and rods, 88mm "thick wall" pistons and cylinders, and a Scat C-35 camshaft. Mike used KS-1000 heads from Kaddie Shack with 40mm intake and 35.5mm exhaust valves, and then topped them off with Kaddie Shack's dual 40mm carb kit with special mod package that includes polishing and a dual cam heim-joint linkage. Engine details also include Pertronix billet distributor with chrome Flame Thrower coil, heavy-duty pushrods, Empi 1.25:1 rocker arms, 8.0:1 compression ratio, and a 1-1/2-inch ceramic coated Sidewinder exhaust system. Transaxle is a fresh Freeway Flyer swingaxle from the guys at Rancho Performance. Overall a great car at a fair price that one could not build another of the same at the price. Looking to roll the $$ from this one into retirement property. Please do not waste my time if you are not a serious buyer. Come see it in person you will fall in love. I’d be happy to pick up a potential buyer at the Pasco WA airport for a preview of the car. Also have lots of video and photos to share.
