Vehicle description
Nothing ultra rare here,no show car,not some beautiful trailer queen, but one of the nicest used and driven 1966 Plymouth Satellite convertibles that you will find.As you can see from the photos this vehicle is straight as an arrow and all body seams and lines are as straight as you will find. This car has been owned and maintained by the same person for approx.40 years. There are approx.140,000 miles on the vehicle and approx.25,000 miles on a totally rebuilt engine of the same vintage.I do not know whether Mopar vehicles utilize matching engine/VIN,s if so the numbers on the included engine would match the car. There has never been any body damage, there are a couple of minor scrapes that can be seen in the photos and the only rust that can be seen is by laying underneath the car and looking up at the left and right outer trunk floor panels.Approx.25 years of daily driving began to take it"s toll on the lower rear portions of the quarter panels and it was decided to restore or replace both panels.Installation of complete Texas quarter panels was performed by a local restoration facility and at that time a total repaint was requested as well. Why the lower rear quarter panels were in need of restoration and the doors and fenders and floor pan were in great condition I am unable to explain.Check out photos of the lower fenders, the underside of the doors and the floor pan.The entire body was examined and it was determined that the floor pan was in great condition, except for surface rust and greasy areas, the front fenders were in great condition and the doors were in great condition as well.Unfortunately,I am only able to display 24 photos,so I have only shown photos of one side of the doors and fenders, but the other side of each door and fender is as clean as the photo shows. The only drawback to the body restoration is that the restoration facility replaced the trunk floors, but did not remove the old rusty portion of the outer trunk floor, they simply installed the replacement panels over the old panels,I do not know why,but you can see from the photos that the rusty areas can be seen.As you can see from the photos, the paint on the sides of the vehicle is in pretty good condition, but the trunk and the hood paint is faded. The top operates properly, but it is frayed in a couple of areas and the window is rather hazy and the top boot is also frayed. The front bumper chrome is beginning to get a little hazy and the rear bumper is new(perfect chrome). The tail light bezels and the outside door handles do have some slight pitting. All glass is in great condition and the interior is in good condition(no tears or cuts). The door trim panels are slightly warped at the lower edges and the carpet is beginning to show some wear, but no tears or holes. The original seat belts have been replaced with aftermarket belts. The spare tire/wheel(very old, maybe original)is in the trunk as well as the jack and components. Also included is the original radio(works?),two wheels and the original 1966 engine(identical to the replacement) that has approx.100,000 miles and has never been disassembled and the original factory service manual and a reprinted owner"s manual and another instrument cluster that is disassembled. The car is an excellent running and driving car and uses no oil,but I do think that the steering is a bit vague at highway speeds(maybe a steering gear would be in order). The transmission shifts crisply and the 4 wheel drum brakes work well, all lights work properly.Tires are good, although I do not know how many miles are on them and the exhaust appears to be in good condition. Please bear in mind that this car was driven daily and on vacations and is basically a nice solid driving used car.Any prospective buyers that present a cashier"s check or cash for payment will need to understand that any payment will need to be scrutinized by my bank before completion of the sale.I have described all features of this vehicle to the best of my abilities and feel that my descriptions are thorough(I am no expert and do not sell many vintage autos),so please feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to assist and as always,Thanks for looking,Mike
